The race was won by current 800m Olympic champion and world record holder David Rudisha of Kenya in 1.44.63.
USA’s Duane Solomon, who was fourth in the London Olympics, was third in 1.45.13.
This time places the Donegal man fourth in the European rankings list and it is his third fastest run of all time.
Less than a week ago the Irish indoor record holder ran 1.46.22 to dip inside the qualification time of 1.46.45 for the European Track and Field Championships which take place in Zurich in August.
The full Irish team will be announced on the 21st of July at a press conference after the National Track and Field Championships (19th/20th).
There is an expectation that this team will be made up of over 25 athletes, making it one of the largest Irish teams ever to compete at the championships.
With development athletes (those aged 24 and under) expected to form a large continent of the team, this championship will form an integral part of their performance development towards Rio 2016 and beyond
