from Donore harriers Congratulations to all our young athletes who competed so well in awful conditions in the Dublin Juvenile cross country Championships on Sunday in Marley Park. Our u10 boys team of Shay Kinsella, Daniel Keaveney, Thomas Dixon and Gabhann Tierney finished in 4th place, missing bronze by one point. In the u13 boys Robert Swaine had a great first race for the club when finishing 2nd, with Aaron Lynch also having a good run. In the boys u15, Eoghan Meyler, Hugh Kavanagh, and Sean Watkins had very good runs, all of them making the Dublin team for the All-Irelands. Performance of the day went to Max Van Haeften who completed a great double by winning the boys u17 title having won the under 16 title two weeks ago. Thank you to the parents for their help.

Meanwhile mud was the main feature of the Leinster Intermediate cross country championships, which took place in Abbeyleix on Sunday November 9. Donore arrived at the race to see some competitors in the junior races running through the mud barefoot, carrying their spikes to the finish line, but that didn’t put off the seven Donore ladies who completed the 4-kilometre course. First team member across the line was Niamh O’Boyle, finishing in 11th position, followed by Christine Sweeney in 13th position, Louisa Nesbitt, 14th, and Cliodhna Carthy, 21st. Sheilagh Sullivan was next in 25th positon, with Julia Hackett 33rd and Laura Moynihan 36th. Donore was the fourth team home after Sportsworld, Tullamore Harriers and Mullingar Harriers. Danny Crean represented Donore in the men’s race, and was 13th across the finish line. Well done to all.
