London 2012 Olympic Marathon Runner Mark Kenneally launches Kildare 10k Mini Marathon The Carers Association are hosting a 10K Mini Marathon in Newbridge on Sunday 8th September at 12 Noon from Ryston Sports & Social Club, Athgarvan Road, Newbridge. This event is a one size fits all as it will attract top Athletes, along with male/female joggers or walkers of all ages and abilities from Newbridge and the County of Kildare. Participants will be representing The Carers Association as well as their favourite charity or club, as this unique event provides a wonderful opportunity to every local charity or voluntary organisation in County Kildare to raise much needed funds.
The Kildare 10K was officially launched today by the Kildare native Olympic marathon athlete Mark Kenneally. Mark’s highlights include being Ireland’s only male representative in the marathon at the London 2012 Olympics, finishing 8th in 2009 European Cross Country Championships, he was also 10,000m track champion in 2011. Mark said he was delighted to be associated with the Carers Association who is doing great work delivering support and services to Family Carers in Co. Kildare and throughout the country. Mark said he “personally understands from within his community the importance of Family Carers and the work they do”, as he has a friend who is a Family Carer and he wished the event every success.
