Join Rugby Legend Malcolm O’Kelly on the Great Ethiopian Run Rugby legend Malcolm O’Kelly will lead a team of 20 participants for the adventure of a lifetime in the highest capital in the world, The Great Ethiopian Run – A Run Less Ordinary on November 24th for Plan Ireland. This 10k race is the biggest and noisiest in Africa and is open to all levels of fitness, including walkers. Over 36,000 participants will line up for the race in historic Addis Ababa, including 500 elite athletes and 500 runners from overseas. Run at 10,000ft above sea level, the course winds its way through the ancient city steeped in culture and tradition.

This race is unique – it is one of the few challenges actually held in a developing country where Plan Ireland work. Unlike other challenges, you will also get to visit some of our projects in Ethiopia and see how you’re helping to develop a brighter future for children. Ethiopia is an incredible country and this event will give you the chance to experience some of its highlights firsthand. This exhilarating challenge incorporates a trip to a Plan project in the town of Lalibela, UN World Heritage Site.
