Metalman Swim Series

0

The event, previously a Sligo Triathlon Club training event, is now branching out on its own and entry is open to the general public for the first time in its five year history. It continues to be headed up by event founder, Shane O’Doherty. If your new years resolution is to improve your swimming or do your first triathlon the swim series is a must.
The league sees swimmers taking on 3 races on separate weekends in June, the 1st, 8th & 29th. The sprint league features 500m, 750m & 1,000m swims and is ideal for first time triathletes looking to build confidence before their first event. The distance league swims are double the distance at 1km, 1.5km & 2km. This is aimed at more experienced swimmers or triathletes taking on longer distance events.
Safety has always been a high priority with the Sligo Civil Defence Lifeboats and Sligo Kayak Club on duty and organisers will run a pre event training session & workshop to improve confidence and skills of the less experienced or worried swimmers.
The event started out small with 15 swimmers 4 years ago, growing steadily to 80 swimmers in 2012. The swim will again be part of the very successful Sligo Swim League including the Lough Gill Swim, Warriors Swim and Channel Cup.
The action takes place in the clean, clear waters of Rosses Point Beach . This fully insured event will see swimmers charged €30/35 entry and includes entry to the three swims, swim hat, custom t-shirt, and post event refreshments. There is no requirement to be a member of any group or association to take part. Entry will open on Saturday 19th January via the website. Don’t delay as places are limited and filled in hours last year.
