Sligo 400 Celebrations
5K Adventure fun Run Event in association with Sligo AC.
To celebrate Sligo’s 400th year as a Borough there will be a 5K Adventure Run Event held on Saturday August 11th in the Sligo Race Course, Cleveragh. The activities will be kicked off at 11:30am with a Juvenile (U12) 2K event, followed by the main 5K event at 12pm. Sligo Race Course is well used to having thoroughbreds gallop around it’s track but on Saturday August 11th the only difference will be that these thoroughbreds will be running on 2 legs. Sligo AC which is the fastest growing Athletic Club in Ireland, increasing by 46% last year alone is well used to staging challenging and successful events but this event is a whole new “Adventure”, the main theme of this event is “Fun for all the family” but will also test your resilience, strength, and stamina, the competitors will be put through and over a number of obstacles such as Bales of Hay, Cargo Nets, Tyre Hopping, Wall Climbing, Inflatable’s, Wet Slide, with a few more added while also trying to stay on your feet and run but above all enjoying the experience, So don’t wear your best kit or new runners as they will get wet! Trail runners would be a great idea no matter the weather some obstacles will become wet and slippy. This is not a competitive race but spot prizes will be allocated on the day and their will be commemorative T-Shirts for the adult event and Medals awarded to the Juvenilles. Registration is €15 for adults and €5 for juveniles on line at www.runireland.com, registration on the day is in Sligo Regional Sports Complex, Cleveragh from 10:00am – 11:00am and is €20 for adults and €5 for juveniles. Come and join the celebrations in Sligo.
