All runners and walkers are invited to join the Glenfarne Gala Festival 10K Fun Run/Walk. If you are looking for a challenge or just want to try and shed a few pounds this is the course for you.
The course has a climb for the first kilometer, followed by a fast descent for several kilometers before entering the final and mainly flat forestry section. Once you exit the main road after the initial asscent you are on a secondary road capturing scenic views of Lough Mac Nean, the best it has to offer.
Stewards and Gardai will be-on-hand to assist with traffic and encourage runners on route. The cost of the event is €10.00 per-runner; entries will also be taken on the day from 11am – 12.30pm at Glenfarne football field.
The race will start at 1pm from Glenfarne football grounds (Male/Female showers and changing facilities available) and will finish at the entrance to Glenfarne forest (also beside the football field). Prizes will be offered to the first 3 men and women.
There will also be prizes for the first local male and female home and prizes for the older competitors. Post race refreshments will be provided at the Rainbow Ballroom of Romance followed by the prize giving cermony.
The money raised from this event will go to the restoration fund for the Ballroom of Romance.
