
Wicklow town hosts a 5-mile-run in aid of Round Ireland Sailfest A MAJOR fundraising 5 Mile Run/walk will be held on Sunday April 29 over a very scenic route incorporating the new Port and Relief Roads in Wicklow Town with fantastic sea views.
The run/walk, which is being sponsored by Burke Oil Products, is being held to raise funds for the Round Ireland Sailfest which will be held in Wicklow Town on June 22, 23 and 24.
Entry Fee for runners is €20 and for walkers €10. The race starts and finishes at the Grand Hotel where refreshments are available. Walkers will start at 10.30 a.m. and Runners will start at 11 a.m..
You can enter via www.runireland.com or register in person from 9am to 9pm on Saturday April 28 or on Sunday April 29 before 10:30 a.m. at the Grand Hotel. The 5 Mile Run/walk has Top 3 Prizes in all categories Junior(under 20), Senior and Veteran(40+) with lots of Spot Prizes on the day.
The 5 Mile Run is an ideal preparation for all those women currently in training for the Flora Mini Marathon which will be held in Dublin on June 4. A novel aspect of this event will be that all participants will gain free entry to a special 5km Fun Run on Saturday June 23, the weekend of the Round Ireland Yacht Race.
The organisers would appreciate the support of all those who took part in the St. Stephen’s Day Run, the recently held Wicklow Gaol Break and athletic and sports clubs throughout the county.
If you are not into running you can also enjoy a brisk walk over a very scenic course and help to raise funds for the Round Ireland Sailfest which was a spectacular success when it was last held in 2010
