Nenagh Lions Club
WILL YOU TRY A TRI’ IN 2016?
Nenagh Lions Club has come up with a novel idea to encourage people to get fit in 2016 with a brand new event that will take place in the town on Saturday, 11th June 2016, called “Try a Tri”. The event will consist of a mini-taster-triathlon to be run in conjunction with Nenagh Triathlon Club. This event is particularly geared towards those who are completely new to triathlons, those with just a basic level of fitness, those who can run or cycle a little but who may be fearful of swimming, and those who simply enjoy a challenge and are keen to participate in what is sure to be Nenagh’s hottest summer event. The event will consist of ten lengths of Nenagh Swimming Pool (at your own pace) followed by 10km cycle and a three kilometre run or walk. Taking inspiration from RTE’s “Operation Transformation”, Nenagh Lions Club is encouraging as many people as possible, young and old, to link up with Nenagh Triathlon Club who are running classes from January 2016 especially geared towards those who wish to train for this event. See www.nenaghtriathlonclub.com for class timetables. Weak and non-swimmers are invited to email Donal Smyth at donalsmyth@yahoo.com for information on swimming lessons. A special welcome will be given to those who are trying a tri’ for the first time and to local clubs, societies and workplaces who wish to participate together in a fun-fit summer event. The mini tri’ will be followed by a BBQ, music and entertainment long into the summer evening. To register simply log on to www.runireland.ie where you will find “Try a Tri’ Nenagh” under its events listing. Those interested are encouraged to register early as interest to date has been very high and there are limited places available. Check out the Try a Tri’ Nenagh Facebook page for more information and updates. Nenagh Lions Club is a completely voluntary not for profit organisation and 100% all funds raised are used to support the local community throughout the year.
