Here is a note from event organiser, Glenda Curtis: Run for Rita is back for the 3rd Year. This is a Run/Walk or Jog 5k Event for the whole family. It is in Memory of my Mam who passed away from Cancer at the age of 58. The aim of this event is to bring the local and surrounding community together and cherish the fact that we are fit an able to get up and get active. It is also a chance to remember our loved ones who have passed away. Over the past two year we have together raised nearly €20,000 for The Irish Cancer Society, Barrettstown and Conor’s Crusade and this year €1,000 of funds raised will go directly to getting a Defibrillator for Kilnamanagh and the rest of the raised funds will be split between two very young children in the area who need medical care, Lexie needing Cochlear Impants(Beaumont Cochlear Implant Team) and Joshua who has been recently diagnosed with OMS (Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome) the only child in Southern Ireland. These Children need your help so dig out those runners and register for this Fun-Filled Event with Raffle, D.J., Football in the Astro for the kids and Refreshments afterwards in Kilnamanagh Community Centre.
