Newcastle Duathlon is now in its second year. This is a fun Duathlon, so all the family can enter.
The first run will be a flat 3.5km run down a picturesque road to the sea, this ensures limited interaction with traffic.
The 20km cycle leaves Newcastle onto the R761 and then onto R772 into Ashford and around a loop back to Newcastle. There will be marshals at all junction.
The second run 3.5km is exactly the same as the first.
The race will finish where it started in the grounds of Newcastle GAA, where there will games going on for the younger ones.

No, you don’t need to have all the latest cycling gear and yes you can do it on a mountain bike!!
The event is run on public open roads and as such competitors must obey the Rules of the Road.
Cyclists must be over 16 on the day of the event. Again no exceptions made here as the event is held on open roads.
