Announcing a new 10km run (AI measured) in Newport-Derrada, Co Mayo on 4th December at 1pm. The inaugural Lough Furnace 10km Run introduces a fabulously scenic yet challenging road race starting in Derrada, just outside Newport Co. Mayo.
This is a perfect pre-Christmas challenge and is open to runners and walkers of all ability. The route takes a circuit loop around Lough Furnace, an area of unspoiled natural beauty and a hidden gem for keen runners, walkers and cyclists and finishes with a section of the Greenway trail, just before the home straight.
The race is organised by Westport AC and is a measured course, sanctioned by AAI.
Due to limited parking at the start, a bus shuttle service will run from Newport town out to the starting point at Derrada community hall (2miles outside the town) from 11.30am to 12.15pm.
