STOP 4 Mile Run & Walk
Large number of runners and walkers are expected to participate in this Sunday’s annual Dromahair 4 Mile run and Walk, which takes place at 3pm in the picturesque North Leitrim village on the banks of the River Bonet and close to beautiful Lough Gill.
The proceeds from the Dromahair 4 Mile Run and Walk will go to aid of STOP, the locally based suicide prevention and support organisation that does so much good work to help people troubled by suicide.
This popular event is organised by North Leitrim Athletic Club and it has secured an Athletics Association of Ireland official permit of approval, as a nationally recognised road race. The race starts and finishes on Dromahair’s Main Street.
Registration will take place in the function room in The Blue Devon from 1pm on Sunday, with a €10 entry fee per running or walking competitor participant. Once again, the organisers are hoping for good support for this event, which continues to grow in reputation each year.
Walkers and runners of all abilities are encouraged to participate. As usual, there will be lots of trophies to be won in a wide selection of categories. As well as the main four mile race, there will also be the usual very popular children’s races, which start at the earlier time of 2pm.
The entry fee for the children’s races is €3, and every child that takes part will be given a medal. Refreshments and prize giving will take place after the main race, in the function room in The Blue Devon.
