The Great Western Greenway 10k
Westport Town Council, Mayo Sports Partnership and Westport Leisure Park are to host the inaugural ‘Great Western Greenway 10k Run’ on Saturday Sept 24th 2011 at 2pm as part of the annual ‘Get Out There’ Festival in Westport Town.
Journey back in time and experience the wonders of the Greenway, once the Great Western Railway that carried West of Ireland people on many journeys of their success and our history to far-flung places such as USA and Great Britain.
Capture the magic of the West like you’ve never done before…. Enjoy the fun as you walk, Jog or run this spectacular Trail, which is ideal underfoot for walkers, joggers and serious athletes.
The Event is limited to 1000 participants and costs just €20, there is up to €2000 in prize fund for this event and participants will receive a special finishers souvenir t-shirt and can enjoy a ‘Finishing Feast Barbeque’ at Westport Leisure Park including lots of fun spot prizes for participants…
Participants will be bussed from the Westport Leisure Park to the starting point of the race on the Great Western Greenway. Participants will need to be at the Leisure Park before 1pm. Entries will be taken on the day from 11am to 1pm. This 10k is an accurately measured course and showers are available at the Leisure Park afterwards.
