Level 1 Course in West a Big Success

Twenty eight coaches from ten different clubs completed their Level 1 Coaching Qualification in Claremorris this past Saturday.

The course proved a big success with the commitment, energy and enthusiam of all the coaches playing a big part. The course was held over 4 days with day 1 in Galway and days 2, 3 and 4 in the facilities of Claremorris AC in Co Mayo.

The facilities, both at Dangan in Galway, and at Claremorris, proved ideal for the occasion. Great credit goes to Claremorris AC in particular for the use of their facilities and for the hospitality provided.

The course was organised by Athletics Ireland Regional Development Officer, Paul McNamara. Melissa Lawless, a former sprint hurdler of note, delivered much of the practical content of the course.

There are plenty of opportunities for coaches to acquire certification in the near future. For other coach education opportunities between now and the end of 2007 please see calendars here. Another level 1 is planned for the west in the new year.

Several of the clubs involved are now eligible to apply to Athletics Ireland for a Juvenile Equipment Pack. Congratulations to all 28 coaches who completed this Level 1 Course.
