The first Spar Ray Darcy 5k got off to a great start in Waterford yesterday when over 650 people joined Ray Darcy for the first and five fun runs across the country this week. Ray was absolutely thrilled with the welcome they received and congratulated Deirdre Chapman and Tom O’Brien of Waterford AC, and Athletics Ireland when speaking to the participants following the 5K Run: “If the remaining runs over this week are even close to what happened in Waterford today, we’re onto a winner,” said Ray
Thanks to everyone at Waterford Athletics Club who helped put the event on yesterday and all those who took part in the Waterford 5k. Despite the wet and windy weather, it was a great afternoon and there was a great atmosphere in Waterford. Today the series turns to Cork and tomorrow it’s on to Galway.
