The Ballyhouras is home of the longest purpose built singletrack in Ireland, 90km of track built and managed by Coilte. We have incorporated the best of this purpose built track and also some of the best natural trails and features this area has to offer.
Main Race
The Main marathon Course will be approximately 65km long. You will be tired, You will be sore but You will be smiling at the finish line! This might be due to fact that your glad to be finished or more likely that your delighted that you just finished one of the toughest races in the XC calendar. It won’t be all pain though, as you wind your way through the beautiful countryside you’ll encounter some of the best flowing single track in the country. But don’t forget this is Mountain Biking and there will be gut wrenching climbs both on fireroad and more technical terrain so its not for the un-fit or faint hearted. The Start and Finish area will be on the fireroad behind the offical Coilte carpark , marshalls will be on hand to assit you with parking on the day and there is a bike wash and hot showers available at the trail head. We will also be providing refresments after the race.
The Main Race will start at 11:30.
Mini-Marathon
Just like the main race, only smaller! For those of you that want to experience the atmosphere of a big race day but without having to experience the pain of racing such a long track! The mini-marathon course will be a cut down version of the main race so you can sample a third of what the main track will be like. The track will be around 25km long and there will be a food/water stop around the halfway mark to refuel you for the return trip back to the finish line.
The Mini-Marathon will start 30 mins after the main race has started.
