Derrydonnell AC was one of the most famous clubs in Ireland during the 1950s and '60s. The club won fourteen consecutive Galway Cross-Country Championship titles at a time when many of the best runners in the country were competing in this county. Derrydonnell AC runners formed the backbone of a hugely-successful Galway cross-country team for many years, and individual Derrydonnell athletes accumulated championship honours almost beyond counting.

This book is the product of three years' research and touches on the history of almost all of the Galway clubs including our own Athenry AC. It contains many photographs, contributions and stories that I hope anyone who has an interest in athletics will enjoy. If you know anyone who enjoys either local history, athletics, or both, it might be a nice Christmas present. All proceeds of the book will be donated to charity.
