DESCRIPTION:The Leenane /Maam branch of the Irish Red Cross are planning to host the fifteenth 5 Mile Run\, Jog\, Walk\, through Leenane on Sunday 19th November 2023. All proceeds raised on the day will go towards the Leenane / Maam Cardiac First Responder Group. The run will start and finish in Leenane Village. This 5 mile run will take in some on the most breath-taking scenery along Killary Harbour and will include the award winning Golden Mile in Glanagimla. \nEntry is now open at https://leenane5mile.com/ \nThis activity is for all serious runners and joggers\, but it will be open to anyone who might enjoy this fun activity. The plan is to have lots of craic at the end of the race where people from the village will provide teas\, cakes and treats for all those who participated. \nThe Race starts at 14:00 at the Leenane Hotel and registration will take place in the Leenane Community Hall from 12 noon onwards. Prizes for first\, second and third place. Refreshment provided at the end of the race. A fun day is promised.

DESCRIPTION:The Leenane / Maam branch of the Irish Red Cross are hosting a 5 Mile Run\, Jog\, Walk\, through Leenane on Sunday 17th November 2022. This is the fourteenth year of this event. \nAll funds raised from this event go towards the upkeep of the Community Cardiac First Responders Group\, \nThe Cardiac First Responders Group have already been instrumental in saving several lives and are a vital resource for this rural area. \nThe run will start and finish in Leenane Village. This 5 mile run will take in some on the breath-taking scenery along Killary Harbour and will include the award winning Golden Mile in Glanagimla. \nThis activity is for all serious runners and joggers\, but it will be open to anyone who might enjoy this fun activity. The plan is to have lots of craic at the end of the race where people from the village will provide teas\, cakes and treats for all those who participated. The volunteers involved in the unit work tireless in their efforts and are present at every outdoor event in the county to help render First Aid when necessary. \nThe Race starts at 14:00 at the Leenane Hotel and registration will take place in the Leenane Community Hall from 12 noon onwards. DESCRIPTION:Why not join the local run in aid of the upkeep of Leenane/Maam Red Cross ambulance! \nThe third Sunday in November\, November the 18th\, will see the tenth running of the Leenane 5 Mile. The event is open to all\, from elite runners to joggers and walkers. \nThe entry fee is 15 euro for an individual and 25 euro for a family. All monies raised go towards the upkeep of the Leenane/Maam Red Cross Ambulance. Registration is available through runireland.com\, via our website and limited registration will also be available on the day. Pick up your race number in the Community Centre\, Leenane\, from 12noon onwards. \nThe race starts at 2pm. Every participant receives a medal and there will be refreshments available in the Community Centre directly after the race. Get back early for some of the famous post-race cake! \nThere will be prizes for the first\, second and third male and female. The run starts at the Hotel in Leenane\, comes through the village and out the Westport Road\, turning right and around the beautiful townland of Glan\, then back into Leenane to finish in the village at the main car park. The surroundings are breathtaking as the route closely follows the shoreline of Killary Fjord. \nThe event is perfect for adventure racers and road runners who want to hold onto the fitness they have earned during the summer\, and 5 miles a very achievable distance if you are a first-timer.
