DESCRIPTION:***The May event has been deferred to this new date in September due to the ongoing COVID19 situation. ** \nLough Cutra Castle in Gort is the backdrop to this action-packed weekend of triathlon racing in Gort\, Co. Galway\, hosted within the beautiful grounds of the Castle and surrounding area of stunning South Galway. \nCastle Run Series\n\nBuilding on the success of the Castle Run Series introduction in 2018\, with the Marathon\, Half Marathon and 10k will continue to take place at Lough Cutra Castle on Sunday 30th May. \nThis stunning and unique multi-terrain course will incorporate spectator friendly loops of beautiful countryside\, the Castle lake\, quaint local villages and of course Lough Cutra Castle itself. Each runner will receive a medal and will be welcomed across the finish line with a banquet of well-earned treats\, with live bands\, food stalls\, a retail area and camping at the castle making the weekend a festival of sporting achievements. \nIn addition to the Run Series events there’s a lot more on offer over the weekend to suit all athletes across a multitude of disciplines. \nCastle Swim Series\nThe swim only event provides the choice of three different distances: 5km 2.5km and 1mile (see price table below) and boasts a unique and stunning swim route in all the stunning castle lakes. \nThe swim described by many triathletes as the ‘best open water swim ever completed’ will now be open to outdoor swimmers as an event in its own right. \nOne mile leisure and family swim \nEnjoy the beautiful setting of Lough Cutra Castle at your own pace. Swim any stroke you like (breaststroke encouraged)\, swim and chat with friends as you go around. Don’t worry about how long it takes (however time limit set at 90 minutes)\, just enjoy it. Under 16’s welcome if accompanied throughout by a competent responsible adult\, however we do have a minimum age of 13. \n\nMultiSport\n\nIf the thought of completing all three disciplines of triathlon at once is holding you back from signing up to one of our events\, our multisport distances could be perfect for you! Perhaps an injury is preventing you from running\, you can’t get your hands on a bike for the summer or the idea of swimming in the lake is just too much. We have created the multisport events to allow our competitors to compete in two disciplines of your choice within our triathlons. All to keep as many people as possible connected\, fit and sane in this period of unprecedented lockdown\, and to raise as much money as possible for their charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support. \n\n\nFollowing the success of their Easter Virtual Challenge\, the Castle Virtual Series will run three events\, across three weekends in April and May\, with three country themes to mirror their summer programme of European events. Whether you’re 8 or 88 there is a race for you. All competitors are welcome to race virtually with The Castle Series community from within the boundaries of your home and immediate surroundings. \nThe Virtual Series will celebrate the host countries of the Castle Triathlon Series events across France\, UK and Ireland. You can sign up to one\, two or all three events. \n\n\n\n\n\n 24th – 26th April Vive La France\n 8th – 10th May VE Day 75th Anniversary\n 22nd – 24th May  Luck of the Irish\n\nChoose from 7 different run/bike/run duathlon options and three running distances. DESCRIPTION:Castle Triathlon Series the organisers of Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon have added both a new Half Marathon and 10k race to its festival of triathlon and multisport on Sunday\, May 27th in Galway. \nThese new events will give runners of all abilities the opportunity to enjoy the incredible off-road course on the castle grounds which have previously only been open to triathletes. \nThe off-road Half Marathon & 10k in Galway will take place in and around the fabulous estate at Lough Cutra Castle finishing in front of the privately owned Castle on the shores of the Lough. \nCastle Triathlon Series are offering a 15% discount on race entry until March 26th 2018. \nThe off-road half marathon & 10k form part of the 2018 two day festival of triathlon and multisport with a variety of triathlon races and swim only events to choose from over the weekend. DESCRIPTION:Lough Cutra Castle in Gort is the backdrop to this action-packed weekend of triathlon racing in Gort\, Co. Galway. This first race of the Castle Triathlon series in 2018 sets the scene for a competitive and fun series\, hosted within the beautiful grounds of the Castle and surrounding area of stunning South Galway. \nAll of the triathlon races at Lough Cutra Castle kick-off by launching into an open-water swim in the lake\, transitioning to the bike route which circumnavigates Lough Cutra itself with The Half Iron Gauntlet cycle taking in the beautiful and breathtaking Burren National Park whilst the run features a mixed terrain in the stunning surroundings of the Castle. \nThis year’s event promises to be an amazing festival of triathlon & multisport with events of various distances to test those chasing a personal best and embrace those who are dipping their toes into the sport of triathlon for the very first time. \nTriathlon Ireland Major Events\nLough Cutra Castle Triathlon has been awarded a hat-trick of qualifying races on the Triathlon Ireland Major Events Calendar including; A National Series Standard Triathlon\, National Mixed Relay Club Championships & Super Series Standard (draft legal) Triathlon in 2018 \nNEW for 2018\nGalway will host Swim only events on Sunday May 26th with the introduction of three swim only distances; 1 mile\, 2.5km and 5km\, suitable for those wishing to dip their toes into the sport of open water swimming or test their open water swim ability over a longer distance. \nThey will also host a new off Road 10k & Half Marathon  on Sunday 27th May around the fabulous estate at Lough Cutra Castle providing runners of all abilities with the opportunity to enjoy an off road\, scenic and stunning course which has previously only been open to athletes participating in one of the triathlon events. \nThere is something for everyone at Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon & Multi-Sport festival in 2018\, check out all the details on www.loughcutratri.ie  \nFollow us on Facebook HERE
