Motivate For Barretstown GAA all-Ireland semi-finalist James Kavanagh was on hand to launch the Free Family Fun Day at the Motivate Challenge Adventure Race which will take place at Punchestown racecourse on September 11th in association with Barretstown.

The Motivate Challenge is an adventure race incorporating three phases of running/walking, cycling and kayaking over a distance of either 25km or 65km. Aimed at both advanced and beginners the Challenge is an ideal fitness goal and a great way to raise funds for charity. Competitors can take part as individuals or in teams of three. The Wicklow hills, Blessington Lakes and Punchestown racecourse will provide the stunning setting for the event. The world recognized Barretstown Camp which neighbours Punchestown is the nominated charity for the event and competitors can fundraise for this very worthy cause if they wish. Entries for the event close on August 27th. Continuing the healthy lifestyle theme and centred around the Motivate Challenge is a free family day. Open to all, the day will have complimentary activities for all the family with GAA and rugby skills zone, Mini Kids Duathlon, Farm Animal Pet Corner, food nutrition zone, yoga and pilates workshops and kids trial bikes and buggies. All are welcome and activities commence at 12 noon. Motivate Challenge Event Co-ordinator, Richie Galway said “These are exciting times as we approach the inaugural Motivate Challenge and Family Day on September 11th at Punchestown. Nowadays people are more health conscious and there is an increased awareness about keeping active. The 25km option is achievable for those with even a basic level of fitness and consider that you can share the challenge with friends as part of a team. The Motivate Challenge Family Fun day will offer families an array of activities no cost. We are delighted to have our neighbours Barretstown on aboard as the nominated charity”.
