Want a FUN and CHALLENGING 5K/10K with a DIFFERENCE?
What is Muck It!?
Muck It! is one of Ireland’s newest and most exciting events. It’s an adventure filled obstacle course, with jumps, crawls, ditches, climbs, swings, and tyres, over very mucky ground in a stunning private estate close to Dublin. The course is 5 km, and for anyone who wishes to push themselves that bit harder, you can do 2 laps for 10 km if you like at no extra cost! It’s addictive, great craic, and you’ll be laughing all day long. We have also added a 5 K Muck Walk category for those who prefer a more leisurely pace, so no excuses!!!
Why should I do it?
For fun, for a new challenge, to kick-start your fitness dreams, for the camaraderie, to raise funds for your favorite charity, for something different to do. The list is endless, but mostly, it’s the best day out you’ll have all year.
When and where is it?
Muck It! takes place in Ballinlough Castle, home of Body & Soul festival!
More information coming soon, stay tuned!
What does the race fee include?
It is includes the 5 km or 10 km course, a very funky t-shirt, post-race refreshments, your timing chip, and a brilliant day out at one of Ireland’s most exclusive destinations.
Can I do it with friends or family? Colleagues? Hen/Stag party?
Absolutely. There’s no better way to say thank you for that lovely gift, or that 9 am Monday morning meeting, or celebrating the bride/groom’s impending nuptials than signing them up for Muck It! You’ll be very glad you did. There’s a discount for large groups (please note, you all complete the course, not as a relay), and if you wish to enter a large group, we’re happy to help you in any way to make it happen, just message us on Facebook or use the Contact Form on the site.
Do I need to be super fit to do it?
No, you can go at your own pace. This is as much of a mental challenge as a physical challenge, and we encourage you to approach it in a way, and at a pace, that suits you best.
Will you be timing me?
Yes, but you don’t have to look at it if you don’t want to. Every participant will be given a sturdy, muck-proof timing chip, and this will give you an accurate result for your race time. Times will be available on the website, and by text message (to valid mobile numbers) after you have completed the race.
Will there be prizes?
Yes! There will be prizes for the fastest individual male and female 10k racers, and for the fastest overall 10k group (in the event of a tie, the group with the fastest individual time). There will also be prizes for our best dressed fancy dressers, and we have a few other spot prizes up our sleeves…
What should I wear?
We suggest light clothing, and nothing that is going to absorb too much water (i.e. don’t wear that big cotton t-shirt and jogging bottoms). A waterproof jacket won’t be any good to you when you’re in the ditches. Wear trainers or trail shoes with decent treads, football boots are OK, but not metal studs please as some of the grounds are used for grazing. If you fancy some fancy dress, we’ll love you for it.
What should I bring?
Don’t bring any valuables as you will need to leave them in the car, and we can’t accept any responsibility for loss or theft of your belongings. Do bring a full change of clothes for after the race. Bring our final info email with you (sent closer to the event), so you have everything you need to know at your fingertips. Bring some water for drinking and for washing (we will have facilities to clean you off, but it’s handy to have your own as well). Bring something to take your wet, mucky things home in.
Can people come and watch me?
Yes, and they should bring their camera if they do! There will be points at which they can watch you, and cheer you on, and you can get them to bring things to you when you’re finished.
What facilities will you have for me when I get there?
There will be a registration area for you to pick up your timing chip and race paraphernalia, a key deposit to leave your car key while you race, washing-down facilities, basic changing facilities, there will be food and beverages available before and after the race for you or anyone that comes to cheer you on. If you would like to make a weekend of it, we recommend The Fincourt in nearby Oldcastle, Co. Meath. If there’s something you think we’ve forgotten, or any special requirements you have, please let us know.
What if I change my mind?
Your entry is non-refundable but you may transfer it to a friend or family member and will be refunded by our registration system upon receipt of payment from the new participant.
