The Good Run is back this Good Friday to get your Easter weekend off to a healthy start.  \nThe event is a charity fun run taking place on Good Friday\, 30 March 2018 in the stunning grounds of St. Anne’s Park\, Raheny in Dublin. All proceeds raised from the event will go towards supporting the fight against Motor Neurone Disease. \nYou can choose to run or walk the 5km  or the shorter 2.5km option. \n\n50% of proceeds will be donated to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) and\n50% will be donated to Project MinE (a research programme dedicated to discovering the genetic cause of MND to enable treatment to be developed).\n\nWalkers\, runners and families are invited to take part and join in the fun while taking in the atmosphere of St Anne’s Park. The Purple Run will take place on Saturday\, March 24th at 11am\, in the Phoenix Park\, Dublin. \nThe event is open to all age groups and abilities and participants can choose to run\, walk or push a buggy over the 5km or 1km distance\, allowing all the family to take part. After around 2miles runners will be on very quiet roads and at around the halfway mark runners will be on the Royal Canal which will be free from vehicular traffic \nWill there be parking? \nThere are a number of large public car parks close to the start area and parking will be free on St. Patrick’s day. \nWill I get an official time? \nYes. The Mullingar Half Marathon will use chip timing technology and every participant will receive an accurate finishing time for their race. \nIs the course marked in miles or kilometres? \nThe course will be marked in Kms \nWill there be water stations on the course? \nThere will be water stations at 3 locations along the course. \nApproximately 5 km mark\,10 km mark and 17 km mark and of course at the finish. \nWill there be refreshments available after the race? \nYes there will be tea\, coffee and sandwiches in the Mullingar Town Park afterward for the athlete only. \nWill there be Physios available after the race? \nTBC \nWill there be showers available after the race? \nThere are no shower facilities. \nWill there be toilets? \nYes there are plenty of toilet facilities at the start and finish and there will also be toilet facilities at around the 5 and 9-mile mark along the route. \nWhere can I put my bag? \nThe Annebrook House Hotel have kindly given us a room which can be used as a bag drop\, however it is recommended to travel light or store your bag in your car so as to avoid congestion at the bag drop \nWhat time will the bag drop area be open? \nThe Bag Drop will be in the Annebrook House Hotel and will be open from 8am until 1pm on the day of the event. \nCan I enter on the Day? \nYes\, the charge is slightly higher at €40 and there will be no new entrants after 9:30am \nI have already entered but can’t make it\, what are my options? \nUnfortunately\, we are unable to facilitate refunds or deferrals of entries. For safety reasons only the person who is registered should compete – numbers should not be transferred to others. \nCan I walk the course? \nAs this is a half marathon it is not advisable to walk the course. The St. Patrick’s Day parade is due to start in the town that afternoon so our Marshalls will be unable to remain along the route long enough to facilitate walkers \nIs there a minimum age? \nAs the race is longer than a 10k under 18’s are not permitted to participate for insurance reasons \nWhere does the race start? \nThe race starts in the centre of Mullingar. Runners should congregate around the Annebrook House Hotel on Austin Friar Street – from here you will be directed to the start line. \nWhere does the race finish? \nThe finish line will be in the centre of the Town Park (Which is adjacent to the Annebrook House Hotel) \nWhen will the results be available? \nThe results should be available immediately upon completion on the My Run Results website. \nWhat are the Prize categories? \nTo be confirmed \nWhat accommodation is available? \nAON Mullingar Half Marathon would recommend the Annebrook House Hotel. DESCRIPTION:The Abbey 8Km Road Race takes place around the Village of Abbey\, Loughrea. It will be chip timed again this year and all race entrants will get the Abbey 8KM Tech T Shirt. Last year we changed the route to a flatter 8Km course and it proved a great success. The race this year will be on the same Route\, starting and finishing in the Village\, close to the Community Centre. Registration will take place in the Community Centre on morning of the race from 10am to 11.30am. There are toilets and a bag drop in the Community Centre. Parking is very close by. All funds raised to the up keep of the Community and the Abbey Scouts.

This is a challenging course through the countryside around the Village of Kilanerin and is perfect as an early season goal\, the course is suitable to all abilities and can be people use it as a benchmark to test their form. \nStarting at the GAA grounds\, participants have a lovely 8 loop track taking in some forest walks for almost 5k. \nThe 26k cycle is a straight out and back to Arklow that is pretty flat and if not too windy can be very fast. \nThe final 2k run is a little hilly but fun.\nPrizes for the top 3 overall and there will be some spot prizes up for grabs so make sure to attend the prize giving. \nRegister Online HERE

SUMMARY:The Swinford Duathlon
DESCRIPTION:The Humbert Duathlon\, Swinford is the fifth in the Ireland West Duathlon Series and is\norganised by Swinford Triathlon Club\, who for many years have provided triathletes with\nthe opportunity to participate in one of the best Half Iron Triathlon events in the country.\nThis year the same organisers have tasked themselves in organising The Humbert Duathlon\, and in this regard\, you can be assured that we will deliver a top class event which we are confident will be a huge success. \nThe Humbert Duathlon is set on a flat course and consists of a 5km run\, 20km cycle and\n3km run and is suitable for all abilities.The start and registration take place at the Amenity Centre\, Kiltimagh Road\, Swinford from 7.45am to 9.15am on Sunday morning the 25th. There are changing rooms and showers at the Community Centre and ample competitor parking at the front and back of the Amenity Centre. \n \nRun 1 brings competitors out the Kiltimagh Road and onto the N5.  After approximately 300 metres competitors will turn right onto the Old Dump Road and travel for approximately 400 meters.  They will then exit onto the Old Castlebar Road and return to transition. \n \nThe cycle is set over a flat course.  On leaving transition\, competitors will travel onto the Old Castlebar Road and after approximately 2km\,  turn right onto the Meelick Road and down to Oldcastle and back onto the N5 at Bohola.  From Bohola the competitors will travel towards Swinford on the hard shoulder of the N5 and on reaching the 20km mark\,  turn right onto the Kiltimagh Road and back to Transition. \n \nRun 2 \nThis will consist of a 3km run which is off-road and will bring competitors around the perimeter of Swinford Golf Club.  This route is relatively flat but nonetheless\, it provides variety and will provide an interesting finish.     \nPrize Presentations \nPrizes will take place afterwards in the Amenity Park.  Time to be confirmed at a later date. \nN.B. \nPlease note that as this is a Triathlon Ireland sanctioned race\, you will require a Race Licence or a Day Licence. \n

DESCRIPTION:3 marathons in 2 days is an endurance challenge. This is the 5th edition of the event which takes place in Ballina\, Co. Mayo. \n2019 is the 2nd year when we offer choice of 3 half marathons in addition to 3 full marathons. \nAnd you can take part in 1\, 2 or 3 events – it’s all up to yourself. \nSo Ballina is calling you on the weekend of 23rd & 24th February 2019. Come\, join us and challenge yourself. \n3 marathons/halfs\, 2 days\, 1 location and 3 different courses. \nSchedule: \n23rd February (Saturday) \n– morning event – full marathon start @ 7am\, half marathon start @ 9am. Course is 2 loops around Ballina/Killala area for a full a marathon and out and back run for the half marathon. Cut off time is 1pm. \n– afternoon event – full & half marathon starts @3pm. Course – looped course – loop length is 1522m\, therefore you have to complete 14 laps for half and 28 laps for a full marathon. All runners have to have a head torch after 5:30pm \nCutoff time is 9pm. \n25th February (Sunday) \n3 distances to choose from – half marathon(start @9am)\, full marathon & ultra marathon (start @8am). \nCourse – looped course with a loop of 1.65mile long – so 8 laps for a half\, 16 for a full and 20 for ultra (33miles). Cut of is 3:30pm \nAll events HQ is located right beside a start&finish line @ Ballina Town Soccer Club. \nChanging rooms\, showers\, and food will be available @ the clubhouse. \nSt. John’s ambulance will be present during the event. \nEvents are chip-timed and all finishers will receive finisher medal upon completion of the course. \nT-shirts for the first 200 participants. \n
