SUMMARY:40th Anniversary Simon Home Run - Pheonix Park
DESCRIPTION:Dublin Simon Home Run:\n40 Years of Movement\nWe are calling on as many people as possible to join the movement by walking\, jogging\, running or rolling in the Phoenix Park (Papal Cross) at 9.30am on Saturday October 7th\, to show solidarity with the record-breaking number of people experiencing homelessness today. \nFor 40 years\, the Dublin Simon Home Run has been pivotal in raising funds to provide emergency response\, wraparound supports and forever homes to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Dublin and the surrounding counties\, supporting 1\,522 adults and children to move out of homelessness and providing forever homes for 857 people in 2021. \nThe Dublin Simon Home Run began as a 5-mile route\, which has remained the same over the last 40 years and today amounts to approximately eight kilometers. While we hope this unique route length will be attractive to runners and joggers eager to test their limits\, we would like to emphasise the event as a movement open to people of all abilities. At the start line\, participants can choose to follow signs for “runners”\, “joggers” or “walkers”. Previous years have seen schools\, walking clubs\, parents with buggies\, wheelchair users\, elite runners\, active retirement groups\, corporate teams and many more all take part. \nFamily members and friends can cheer participants on from the sidelines\, or meet them afterwards in the Dublin Simon tented village\, which will feature food trucks\, children’s entertainment and live music. \nRegistration is now live and costs €15 as part of the earlybird offer until August 31st and €20 thereafter. Participants will also have the option upon registering to purchase the limited edition 40th Anniversary Dublin Simon Home Run t-shirt for an additional €15 or pay €5 for a lucky dip of past Home Run t-shirts. \nAll funds raised by the Dublin Simon Home Run will support our life-saving services which help vulnerable people in our community to close the door on homelessness for good.

SUMMARY:Echo Women's Mini Marathon 2023
DESCRIPTION:Entries are Open Now for 42nd Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon\n\nMill Road\, Cork \n12 Noon\, Sunday September 17th 2023. \nThe Course \nThe Course is due to be officially measured shortly\, by a World Athletics accredited measurer. Once that’s done\, and the start and finish line positions have been verified\, Cork Athletics\, in conjunction with title sponsors\, The Echo\, will post details of the course \nThe new\, proposed\, route starts in approximately the same area as before\, but on Kennedy Quay\, taking in Victoria Rd\, tutning left onto Centre Park Rd\, and down along to the Marina. We’ll be going down the Marina \,as far as the slip road down to Pairc Ui Chaoimh \nFrom there we go around the Blackrock end of Pairc UI Chaoimh\, on the outside\, then up between the all-weather pitches and the stadium\, and then turn right into the gated GAA car park\, and left again after about 100m\, out another gate\, into the new Marina Park\, going up toward the bandstand\, then swing left and back down again in front of Pairc Ui Chaoimh\, between Pairc Ui Chaoimh itself and the all-weather pitches \nAt that point\, the participants will be going in both directions\, with barriers in between. At the end then\, after we’ve gone past the all-weather pitches\, turn right toward CAB. From there continue straight up Monahan Rd and finish more or less at the same spot as in previous years \nThe proposed new route has received Garda approval. We hope that the proposed new route will give people\, perhaps\, their first look at the lovely\, and scenic\, new Cork City Council Marina Park amenity area \nTime Zones\nWith the intention of enabling a smooth and fast start for everyone\, this year’s Mini-Marathon will again feature Time Zones. In addition\, everyone will start on Mill Road \nThe Time zones will be marked on the road leading to the Start Line\, with 7 zones in all: \n  \n\n\n\n  Zone\n  Finish Time\nApprox. Pace\n\n\n\n\nZone 1\nSub 24\nsub 6:30 Minutes/Mile\n\n\nZone 2\n24 – 32 Mins\n6:30 to 8:30 Minutes/Mile\n\n\nZone 3\n33 – 36 Mins\n8:30 to 9:30 Minutes/Mile\n\n\nZone 4\n37 – 40 Mins\n10 to 11 Minutes/Mile\n\n\nZone 5\n41 – 45 Mins\n11 to 12 Minutes/Mile\n\n\nZone 6\n46-50 Mins\n12 to 14 Minutes/Mile\n\n\nZone 7\n50 Min +\n14+ Minutes/Mile\n\n\n\n  \n Time Zones for The Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon\nHow to Use the Time Zones\nRunners and walkers should enter the Time Zone most appropriate to their own target finish time.  If all participants adhere to this\, it should make for a streamlined start and a pleasant experience for everyone\, runner and walker alike.   The image above gives an indication of the zones\, though the view foreshortens them\, making some of the zones appear smaller than they actually will be.  Each zone will be sized to adequately cater for the estimated numbers (based on previous year’s Mini-Marathon finish times) in each section \n \nThere are two primary goals behind the introduction of Time Zones:\n\nImproved Safety for Everyone\, and\n\n\nA smoother Start for all participants\, from the fastest\, to those who intend taking their leisure\nIf everyone starts in a realistic zone for their own individual abilities\, we think that the change will prove a major factor in everyone enjoying their 2023 Mini-Marathon experience\n\nClub Runners\nWe hope that the changes introduced\, in recent years\, to the Mini-Marathon will continue to attract club runners in large numbers. The time zones has enabled all runners to get straight into their stride pretty much straight away \n\n…We Like It…..We Hope YOU do Too!!

SUMMARY:Cherry Orchard 5k and 10k Run 2023
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT \n  \nCherry Orchard Running Club \nare celebrating their 10th Anniversary \nJoin us for \n5K & 10K Run \nSaturday\, June 10th 2023 @ 10:30am \n  \nThis year\, Cherry Orchard Running Club celebrates its 10th anniversary. We have come a long way since Head Coach Kenneth O’Driscoll founded Cherry Orchard Running Club in 2013.\nKenneth began with finding his own passion for running and wondered “why is everyone in Ballyfermot not out running”? He encouraged his friends and family to get out with him\, and soon a little crew was formed and they spent many a weekend running through the Phoenix Park. \nKenneth’s crew grew larger and larger and over time he linked in with Familibase to become an official AAI recognised Running Club\, the first in Ballyfermot May I add!\nCoach Ken (as he’s now known) not only had a crew to run with\,he now had a team of supports and soon the club evolved to an adult and kid club. Currently we have over 200 registered members both adults and kids. \nWe participate in races all over Ireland and our sea of Orange is recognisable for miles. \nNow it’s your turn to join our race and help us celebrate our big birthday! \n
