SUMMARY:EcoTrail Wicklow
DESCRIPTION:International Event\nFollowing an amazing first edition\, Ecotrail Wicklow is back on the 26th of September 2020.  Choose from our four distances:  18k\, 29k\, 45k or 80k! \nJoin Ireland’s largest Trail Running event through some of Wicklow’s most scenic locations! \nTrail runners from around the world will experience our amazing scenery\, across a selection of challenging routes; 18km\, 28km\, 45km and 80km. \nTrails\nThe trails will take participants to some of Wicklow’s most scenic locations including Bray Head\, Killruddery Gardens\, The Great Sugarloaf\, Powerscourt Waterfall\, the Wicklow Way\, Lough Tay viewing point and Piers Gate and all the way to Roundwood and the Vartry Reservoir. \n“This event will be a truly scenic feast” says Fred Verdier from Wicklow County Tourism. “Exclusive access to the world renowned Killruddery and Powerscourt Estates will very much enhance the experience for the participants.  Any running enthusiast should have this event on their ‘must do’ list”. \nDistances\nWhile the long distances are probably for the experienced trail runners\, the 18 and 28k routes are ideal for road runners that want to have a try at trail running. \nEcotrail\nEcotrail was first organised in Paris ten years ago with the objective to connect the city with the outdoors with a stunning finish on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. Ecotrail comes with a very strong eco-responsible ethos and each event is committed to reduce litter\, minimise environmental impact and promote public transport. The Ecotrail concept has been recreated around various cities in Europe and is now held in Reykjavik\, Oslo\, Stockholm\, Brussels\, Geneva\, Florence\, Madrid and Funchal (Madeira). \n“The concept of Ecotrail offers a truly international exposure and is ideal to promote the the Wicklow Outdoors brand” says Frank Curran\, Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council. “The platform will give Wicklow twelve months on constant exposure through the various Ecotrail events held around Europe. Furthermore\, the Eco-friendly concepts fits perfectly to our destination.” \n“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Wicklow into the Ecotrail family” adds Jean Charles Perrin\, Ecotrail founder and CEO of Ecotrail International. “Trail Running is one of the fastest-growing sport in the world\, and Wicklow is a fantastic addition to our destinations. Having seen the beauty of Wicklow late last year\, Ecotrail Wicklow might just become one of our most popular events.” \n\nFor further info on Ecotrail Wicklow\, go to https://wicklow.ecotrail.com\nSocial Media: https://www.facebook.com/EcoTrailWicklow/\nVideo EcoTrail Wicklow: https://wicklow.ecotrail.com/en/article/watch-2019-ecotrail-wicklow-video\nVideo Ecotrail International: https://youtu.be/tp3F55tAb0c\n\n

our personalised race numbers so transfer requests must be  processed prior to that date \nNo deferrals to subsequent events are possible \nPlease Do Not allow anyone else to run with your number \n Allowing someone else to use your number in this manner is unfair to those who missed out on the entry limits. \nThis also means you are not covered by our 3rd party insurance which is vital for this event to take place on the public roads and to utilise privately owned land for parking\, etc \nIt also adversely effects the results service we can provide with our timing partner particularly in relation to age group prizes and in the past has given us incorrect results where some category winners have missed out on being presented with their prizes on the day\, etc so Please “Play Fair & Comply With Conditions Of Entry Thanks“ \nIf you allow someone else to use your number in this manner then you will not be allowed to enter future events \nSO PLEASE – NO NUMBER SWAPS UNLESS DONE will be clearly marked and marshalled. \nThere will also be signs at each approximate km & mile intervals FYI \nThese signs are not officially measured and are for information / general assistance only.\nAt each 1/4 marathon point Split Timing will be provided to give you chip timed results including 1/4 marathon splits. \nWhere can I leave my car key or bag?\nA small bag drop area will be provided by the race organisers those who have not access to vehicles on the day but be aware that peak time delays are likely to occur in this area – Items left in this area are to be labelled with your race number before handing in – We will provide labels – Although every effort will be made to keep this area secure\, the race organisers will not accept responsibility for items left in this area and we recommend that you keep your vehicle key & valuables on your person if possible \nWhere will water stations be located & what will be provided?\nWater stations will be provided at 4 locations along the route as well as the finish \nThe following refreshment stations are planned for the 2020 event: \nAs with our 2019 event\, in 2020 we will endeavour to go greener by introducing SUMMARY:Tri Talking Sport 12 Days of Christmas Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Christmas is fast approaching and although this year might be different to other years due to Covid19\, it will still be a time when we get busy with festive activities from Christmas shopping to decorating the tree\, watching movies to catching up with friends and family\, albeit maybe virtually for the most part. \nWhilst this year might see more zoom parties than mulled wine receptions more Christmas coffees outside than dinner parties inside there will be a million and one excuses for the reduction in physical activity.  There is no doubt it is a busy time of year and with colder weather the motivation to move can really hit an all time low\, so much so that we can often let our let our fitness decrease and our waistlines increase through lack of movement and exercise during December. \nBut….. if you need some inspiration\, motivation or just some accountability to get you moving this December you can sign up now to the Tri Talking Sport 12 Days of Christmas Challenge kicking off on December 1st \nThe Challenge \nThe concept is a simple one\, commit to completing 12 hours of physical activity over the festive period from December 1st– 25th. Ideally\, this would be one hour of activity per day for 12 days\, however\, this is more about completion than competition so you can decide to complete the challenge over a variety of durations from 30 minutes to 2 hour sessions during the festive period. \nSelect any form of physical activity of choice; yoga\, pilates\, running\, walking\, swimming\, cycling\, hiking\, jogging\, fitness class or any other activity that gets you moving\, puts a smile on your face and gets the blood rushing through your veins. This free fun challenge aims to encourage you to get moving over the festive period\, providing the incentive and support to get an hour of exercise completed on at least 12 days between the 1st of December and Christmas Day\, taking time out to enjoy the session and time for yourself each day. \nAlthough the reward for the challenge is in the completion and personal satisfaction\, there will be a number of presents and treats up for grabs from Santa’s Sleigh as an incentive for participants to engage in the challenge fully.  Register for the festive fitness challenge HERE.  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Ray's Marathon Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Ray’s marathon Challenge\nDo you think you could run or walk 26.2 miles in a week\, every week\, for a full year? Now that’s a challenge – that’s Ray’s Marathon Challenge. \nRay D’Arcy is a long-time supporter of LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and he loves to run. Ray figured if he could get 1\,000 people like him to run or walk a marathon each week during 2021 and each raise €500 over the year that would generate a whopping half a million for LauraLynn. \nWhat do you think? Are you in? \n\n\n\nA Message from Ray\nAs many of you know by now I am a long-standing supporter of LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and the amazing work that they do for families across the country. I am also a big fan of running and training for marathons and marrying the two together I came up with Ray’s Marathon Challenge! \nI know if you’re like me\, you’ve really missed the community feel of running a marathon and the motivation and strength that you get from feeling like you are part of something bigger and I think that is exactly what we have been able to create with this challenge\, even if it is in the virtual world. \nThe new year is a perfect time to start this and challenge ourselves and I am so delighted that so many people have joined my team for this and have gotten behind it so happy running everyone!
