DESCRIPTION:In these unprecedented times when we all need to stay at home to protect ourselves and society at large\, The Castle Series who host Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon in Galway have launched their inaugural virtual race series for all ages and abilities. All to keep as many people as possible connected\, fit and sane in this period of unprecedented lockdown\, and to raise as much money as possible for their charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support. \nFollowing the success of their Easter Virtual Challenge\, the Castle Virtual Series will run three events\, across three weekends in April and May\, with three country themes to mirror their summer programme of European events. Whether you’re 8 or 88 there is a race for you. All competitors are welcome to race virtually with The Castle Series community from within the boundaries of your home and immediate surroundings. \nThe Virtual Series will celebrate the host countries of the Castle Triathlon Series events across France\, UK and Ireland. You can sign up to one\, two or all three events. \n\n\n\n\n\n 24th – 26th April Vive La France\n 8th – 10th May VE Day 75th Anniversary\n 22nd – 24th May  Luck of the Irish\n\nChoose from 7 different run/bike/run duathlon options and three running distances. Track your progress throughout each weekend on our leader board and tune in for the live prize-giving ceremony on Facebook. \n\n\nPrizes will be awarded for gender winners in each age and distance category and special awards will be provided for the most creative course design and best dressed. \n\n \nTo create a truly community event\, they are asking all participants to carry out their challenge over the event weekends making the most of the space and time you have to exercise in a safe but competitive environment. \nGiving Back\n\n\n\nThe Castle Virtual Series will donate 20% of each race entry fee to their long-term charity partner\, Macmillan Cancer Support. SUMMARY:Cycling Ireland Virtual Challenge for The Irish Cancer Society
DESCRIPTION:Cycling Ireland will host a charity sportive on Sunday\, May 3rd on the online training platform\, Zwift. Many of Ireland’s top professional cyclists\, including Nicolas Roche and Eddie Dunbar\, will join in support of those struggling during these difficult times. \nHundreds of people are expected to ride the virtual sportive from the safety of their own homes using a stationary bike and turbo trainer\, making it the largest mass participation sporting event in the country. \nThe event caters to a variety of fitness levels with the option to ride for a portion of\, or the full 75-kilometer route. Participants have the opportunity to chat with Ireland’s top professional cyclists as well as friends from around the country using Cycling Ireland’s chat app\, discord.Cycling Ireland’s designated charity for the event is the Irish Cancer Society. \nThe Covid-19 outbreak has had a huge effect on the Irish Cancer Society as it works with the most vulnerable to the virus. DESCRIPTION:Cleasathon 2020 \nCleasathon is a road race that take place yearly on Inis Oirr. Inis Oírr island is situated off the west coast of Ireland in Galway Bay. It is one of the group of islands known as The Aran Islands. It has an ancient history\, a vibrant Irish speaking population\, beautiful scenery and a tranquil pace of life. The island can be accessed\, all year-round\, by plane from Indreabhán\, Conamara\, by ferry from Ros an Mhíl\, Conamara or seasonly from Doolin\, Co. DESCRIPTION:DATES – Friday 1 st May 2020 – Saturday 16 th May 2020\n2. ABOUT – Everybody just wants to help don’t they? In a difficult and sometimes distressing set of circumstances such as where we find ourselves at present with the coronavirus pandemic\, it’s important to remember we’re all in this together. With that in mind\, a group of eager runners from South West Fermanagh have decided to\, well\, er….. go running. And anyone else who’d like to join with us. Sure it’ll look a bit different with the lockdown restrictions. Running will be virtual and in isolation. But between the above dates\, the Rock Runners from Derrylin are inviting runners of all abilities to run whatever\nyou can and for an extra bit of fun you can take a video of yourself and send it to our Facebook Page. Suggested distances are between 3 and 6 miles but you can run less or more as you see fit. So hands up who’s ready for a bit of virtual running action….. \n\n3. THE CAUSE – Marie Curie is a well known and respected organisation working in the local community (and all across the UK). They provide care and\nsupport for around 2\,500 people living with a terminal illness in Northern Ireland each year. Of course at this present time their workload gets no smaller and indeed bigger in many ways with their services also being called upon by local nursing homes where necessary. We live it and breathe it. One sunny day  in 2014 we had the brain wave of encouraging everyone to share our passion for the sport and created our amazing series. \nWe have listened to feedback and decided to make a couple of changes to keep the series fresh and exciting! We are delighted to announce that we will be moving locations to new areas of the Banner County… \nThe 5k will be in Lisdoonvarna\, it’ll be a great way to start the journey around the country lanes. The 5 mile will take us to Spanish Point\, where the route will take close to the Atlantic\, then to Ennis for the Eamon Moloney 10k\, where the urban location is known for its family atmosphere and fast\, flat route. Finally we are heading to East Clare for the 10 mile. \nFinishers prizes to be announced in the coming weeks! Tech tops for the first 400 entries in the 10k. \nWe all start together but we may not all finish together\,  what matters is that we all have achieved something incredible as an individual. \nWhere else would you get 4 races over 4 months with all the trimmings you know we do?? DESCRIPTION:The Tralee Marathon will take place on Saturday 11th April 2020\, it will be a stand alone 26.2 Mile event. The route will be the original 2013 route (Tralee\, Ardfert\, Fenit\, Spa\, Tralee). The Race Director will be Jim McNeice. \n \nThe Marathon will start at 9am on the 11th April. It will start outside the Aqua Dome\, heading to Ardfert\, Barrow\, and then onto Fenit\, after which the route heads back to Tralee via the Spa\, the Kerries\, and Blennerville. With the finish line on the Neil Armstrong Way. \nThe finish line of the Tralee Marathon is on the Neil Armstrong Way. In 1997 Neil Armstrong made a speech in this area of Tralee.
