SUMMARY:Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon and Multisport Festival
DESCRIPTION:***The May event has been deferred to this new date in September due to the ongoing COVID19 situation. ** \nLough Cutra Castle in Gort is the backdrop to this action-packed weekend of triathlon racing in Gort\, Co. Galway hosted within the beautiful grounds of the Castle and surrounding area of stunning South Galway. \nAll of the triathlon races at Lough Cutra Castle kick-off by launching into an open-water swim in the lake\, transitioning to the bike route which circumnavigates Lough Cutra itself with The Half Iron Gauntlet cycle taking in the beautiful and breathtaking Burren National Park whilst the run features a mixed terrain in the stunning surroundings of the Castle. \nThis year’s event promises to be an amazing festival of triathlon & multisport with events of various distances to test those chasing a personal best and embrace those who are dipping their toes into the sport of triathlon for the very first time. \n\nCheck out all Triathlon Races in Galway HERE  \n\nSwim & Run Only\n\nIn 2018 we introduced our Castle Run Series and Castle Swim Series which saw swimmers and runners enjoy the fun of racing a single sport amidst the full-on atmosphere of a busy triathlon festival. \n\nSwim Series \nThe swim only event provides the choice of three different distances: 5km 2.5km and 1mile (see price table below) and boasts a unique and stunning swim route in all the stunning castle lakes. The swim described by many triathletes as the ‘best open water swim ever completed’ will now be open to outdoor swimmers as an event in its own right. \nOne Mile Swim  \nEnjoy the beautiful setting of Lough Cutra Castle at your own pace. Swim any stroke you like (breaststroke encouraged)\, swim and chat with friends as you go around. Don’t worry about how long it takes (however time limit set at 90 minutes)\, just enjoy it. Under 16s welcome if accompanied throughout by a competent responsible adult\, however we do have a minimum age of 13. \nRun Series \nBuilding on the success of the Castle Run Series introduction in 2018\, with the Marathon\, Half Marathon and 10k will continue to take place at Lough Cutra Castle. \nThis stunning and unique multi-terrain course will incorporate spectator friendly loops of beautiful countryside\, the Castle lake\, quaint local villages and of course Lough Cutra Castle itself. Each runner will receive a medal and will be welcomed across the finish line with a banquet of well-earned treats\, with live bands\, food stalls\, a retail area and camping at the castle making the weekend a festival of sporting achievements. \nMultiSport in 2021\nIf the thought of completing all three disciplines at once is holding you back from signing up to one of our events\, our multisport distances could be perfect for you! Perhaps an injury is preventing you from running\, you can’t get your hands on a bike for this summer or the idea of swimming in the lake is just too much. We have created the multisport events to allow our competitors to compete in two disciplines of your choice within our triathlons. The same stunning courses tailored to suit you! \n\nThere are a host of junior races on offer for the aspiring young athlete across the weekend so come with the family and fanclub\, enjoy the racing and festival atmosphere regardless of age or ability and make Lough Cutra your destination race in 2021. \n\nThere is something for everyone at Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon & Multi-Sport festival in 2021\, check out all the details on www.loughcutratri.ie.  Follow us on Facebook HERE

SUMMARY:Cycle Against Suicide Bike4Life 2021
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Cycle Against Suicide’s Bike4Life 21 – Around the World\nEvery year\, on September 10th\, millions of people around the world come together to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. Cycle Against Suicide joins this global community as we once again hold our annual Bike4Life to mark this important day and join others in cycling ‘around the world’. This year\, we gather promoting evidence-based action to reduce the incidence of suicide and suicidal behaviour. \nMore than just a cyclethon\, our ‘Bike4Life’ is an opportunity to move for something that matters – for healing and recovery for those impacted by suicide; for the memory of loved ones lost to suicide; for hope in communities and families struggling with the impact of isolation and loneliness in these unprecedented times. \nOur Bike4Life goal this year is to cycle ‘around the world’ in one day\, promoting suicide awareness and prevention. \n  \nOne Day – One Goal.\nWe want to complete 42\,000Kms in a day and while doing it\, reignite the sense of community\, camaraderie and personal connection that has been missing from our lives due to COVID-19.\nOn September 10th\, gather your family and friends\, your school\, your club or your organisation and join Cycle Against Suicide on it’s ‘Bike4Life -Around the World’ campaign. Let us move together in support of suicide prevention and create a world where fewer people die by suicide. You can cycle any distance you want\, anywhere you want – at home\, at the gym\, on any road\, or on your favourite track. \nYour Bike4Life participation helps to raise awareness and funds that save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. Funds raised go towards increasing Cycle Against Suicide evidence-based supports and programmes into communities across Ireland. (Primary and Post Primary Schools’ Programmes and our Community Buddy Programme).\nIn Ireland\, one person each day is a victim to suicide\, with tens of thousands of people at risk. Every suicide destroys families and communities. It leaves immense uncertainty\, guilt\, regret and profound feelings of loss. Cycle Against Suicide is working hard to save lives and lessen the huge toll suicide places on families and communities through its evidence-based programmes and events. \nThis World Suicide Prevention Day\, September 10th\, 2021\, support the work of Cycle Against Suicide\, Hop on your bike\, and together\, let’s provide hope and encouragement to those who are struggling. \nOne Day – One Goal: REGISTER NOW CLICK HERE

SUMMARY:Donegal Half Marathon 2021

This year\, the organising committee saw it as an opportunity to expand it out into the wider Donegal area. So\, we’ve gone with the Wild Atlantic Way theme\,” she commented.\n“We’ve 39 discovery points along the Wild Atlantic Way in Donegal and the primary focus this year is going to be Fanad Lighthouse. Fanad Lighthouse is one of our iconic signature points along the Wild Atlantic Way. So\, it gives us a great opportunity to showcase it both to the people taking part virtually\, and to those that are at home\,” Joan added.\n“It’s our intention to work with the Donegal Half Marathon in terms of showcasing those discovery points all along the Wild Atlantic Way\, so we have a partnership that’s going to be here for a long time to come. I think it’s a great incentive to get people involved and collecting those 39 medals that are the discovery points in Donegal.\n“The Donegal Half Marathon will assist us in promoting Donegal as a county\, to people both at home and abroad. The event had huge numbers taking part virtually last year. There’s an actual race this year\, so we’re hoping to see large number participating\,” the Wild Atlantic Way Manager said.\nThis year’s Donegal Half Marathon starts at 9.20 am and will be sponsored by the Kernan’s Retail Group\, with support from Donegal County Council\, Optum\, Donegal Sports Partnership and Donegal Volunteer Centre.\n\nEnter Now Click Here \n

Our senior & master athletes continue to lead the way in road competitions county wide.\nThe club provides a full athletics programme all year around in Indoor\, Track & Field\, Cross Country\, Road & Marathon running and Sportshall at all ages. In 2016 an ambitious 5 year club plan was developed focused on a number of areas around coach and athlete development pathway\, enhancing facilities and partnerships within the community to provide a platform for competitive and noncompetitive members of all ages and abilities. Off the field the club is extremely proud of what has been achieved\, with the redevelopment of the track surface at Carrickfinn\, and more recently lights erected which has been a huge addition over the winter to enable the clubs to train during the long winter evenings. The next phase which has already started is another 5 year plan for 2021 – 2026.\nThe club has ambitious plans and will continue to drive forward in progressing on a number of key fronts. We are excited and look forward to what the future holds and where we can bring our club. Check us out at https://www.facebook.com/RossesAC.\n\n\n“The Future is Bright\, the Future is Orange”

SUMMARY:Ray's Marathon Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Ray’s marathon Challenge\nDo you think you could run or walk 26.2 miles in a week\, every week\, for a full year? Now that’s a challenge – that’s Ray’s Marathon Challenge. \nRay D’Arcy is a long-time supporter of LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and he loves to run. Ray figured if he could get 1\,000 people like him to run or walk a marathon each week during 2021 and each raise €500 over the year that would generate a whopping half a million for LauraLynn. \nWhat do you think? Are you in? \n\n\n\nA Message from Ray\nAs many of you know by now I am a long-standing supporter of LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and the amazing work that they do for families across the country. I am also a big fan of running and training for marathons and marrying the two together I came up with Ray’s Marathon Challenge! \nI know if you’re like me\, you’ve really missed the community feel of running a marathon and the motivation and strength that you get from feeling like you are part of something bigger and I think that is exactly what we have been able to create with this challenge\, even if it is in the virtual world. \nThe new year is a perfect time to start this and challenge ourselves and I am so delighted that so many people have joined my team for this and have gotten behind it so happy running everyone!

SUMMARY:Tri Talking Sport 12 Days of Christmas Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Christmas is fast approaching and although this year might be different to other years due to Covid19\, it will still be a time when we get busy with festive activities from Christmas shopping to decorating the tree\, watching movies to catching up with friends and family\, albeit maybe virtually for the most part. \nWhilst this year might see more zoom parties than mulled wine receptions more Christmas coffees outside than dinner parties inside there will be a million and one excuses for the reduction in physical activity.  There is no doubt it is a busy time of year and with colder weather the motivation to move can really hit an all time low\, so much so that we can often let our let our fitness decrease and our waistlines increase through lack of movement and exercise during December. \nBut….. if you need some inspiration\, motivation or just some accountability to get you moving this December you can sign up now to the Tri Talking Sport 12 Days of Christmas Challenge kicking off on December 1st \nThe Challenge \nThe concept is a simple one\, commit to completing 12 hours of physical activity over the festive period from December 1st– 25th. Ideally\, this would be one hour of activity per day for 12 days\, however\, this is more about completion than competition so you can decide to complete the challenge over a variety of durations from 30 minutes to 2 hour sessions during the festive period. \nSelect any form of physical activity of choice; yoga\, pilates\, running\, walking\, swimming\, cycling\, hiking\, jogging\, fitness class or any other activity that gets you moving\, puts a smile on your face and gets the blood rushing through your veins. This free fun challenge aims to encourage you to get moving over the festive period\, providing the incentive and support to get an hour of exercise completed on at least 12 days between the 1st of December and Christmas Day\, taking time out to enjoy the session and time for yourself each day. \nAlthough the reward for the challenge is in the completion and personal satisfaction\, there will be a number of presents and treats up for grabs from Santa’s Sleigh as an incentive for participants to engage in the challenge fully.  Register for the festive fitness challenge HERE.  \n  \n
