DESCRIPTION:Following on from the success of last year\, the Wild Goose Chase 10k and 5k returns for the 6th time on Saturday\, 2nd December 2017 at 12 noon starting and finishing at the Westerns GFC\, Reaghstown\, Ardee (off N2 between Ardee and Carrickmacross opposite Dooley’s pub). All proceeds go to Ardee Hospice Homecare and redevelopment of Westerns Grounds. \nEach year this event has gone from strength to strength and is now a fixture in the diary of many running clubs\, sports teams and fun runners/walkers in the North East and beyond. Each participant receives a run number\, official time\, flashing armband\, goody bag at the finish line\, and an official race certificate. Prepaid teams of 5 or more get their spaces reserved\, free postage and packing\, and the team leader gets a long-sleeve tech top. \nAs darkness falls around the world\, 25\,000 people in 50 cities around the world will Run in the Dark together to help fast-track a cure for paralysis. Run in the Dark is the main fundraiser of the Mark Pollock Trust\, whose mission is to fast-track a cure for paralysis by creating global collaborations and funding groundbreaking scientific research. This year\, by raising €500\,000\, Run in the Dark will help to fund more global collaborations and multi-subject research trials. Every €30 raised covers one day of clinical research fees. \nWhy Run in the Dark? \nThere is no cure for paralysis or any meaningful therapies for millions of people around the world with spinal cord injury. 7 out of 10 never work again after spinal cord injury and 4 out of 10 live below the poverty line. But the Mark Pollock Trust aims to change this reality by finding and connecting people around the world to fast-track a cure for paralysis. All monies raised go towards the upkeep of the Leenane/Maam Red Cross Ambulance. Each participant receives a run number\, official time\, flashing armband\, goody bag at the finish line\, and an official race certificate. Prepaid teams of 5 or more get their spaces reserved\, free postage and packing\, and the team leader gets a long-sleeve tech top. \nAs darkness falls around the world\, 25\,000 people in 50 cities around the world will Run in the Dark together to help fast-track a cure for paralysis. Run in the Dark is the main fundraiser of the Mark Pollock Trust\, whose mission is to fast-track a cure for paralysis by creating global collaborations and funding groundbreaking scientific research. This year\, by raising €500\,000\, Run in the Dark will help to fund more global collaborations and multi-subject research trials. Every €30 raised covers one day of clinical research fees. \nWhy Run in the Dark? \nThere is no cure for paralysis or any meaningful therapies for millions of people around the world with spinal cord injury. 7 out of 10 never work again after spinal cord injury and 4 out of 10 live below the poverty line. But the Mark Pollock Trust aims to change this reality by finding and connecting people around the world to fast-track a cure for paralysis. DESCRIPTION:Following on from the success of the last three years\, the fourth running of the Monaghan Phoenix Marathon Festival in 2017 will be even bigger and better.\nOpen to all – But numbers limited so book early to avoid disappointment.\nConsidered the best value Marathon in Ireland.\n– Athletics Association of Ireland Permit and Measured Course\n– Refreshments before\, during and after the race.\n– Changing facilities and showers.\n– Entertainment and surprises along the route.\n– Part of Monaghan County Athletics Board Distance League (Half Marathon)\n– Course will be around Monaghan Town\, Ulster Greenway Canal Path and Rossmore Forest Trails.\n– Miles of Smiles in the land of little hills \nThe event is organised by Monaghan Phoenix Athletic Club. Monaghan Phoenix is one of the oldest clubs in Monaghan\, and caters for runners of all abilities and all ages. All proceeds from the events goes back into the Juvenile section of the club to assist in building and support athletics for juveniles and juniors.\nNOTE: This year we are introducing a time limit fo 6:30 for all our marathon runs. \nCHARITY MARATHON\nFor the first time this year\, we will be holding a Charity Marathon on Friday 29th September. This will be only for those doing the Back to Back and entry can be made as an add-on during registration for the Back to back. The friday event will start at 9:45am. The Charity Marathon is entirely funded by local businesses\, and ALL proceeds of the event will go directly to local charities. \nSaturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October\nBack to Back marathon (with option to enter Charity Marathon on Friday 29th September) \nSunday 1st October\nFull Marathon \nSunday 1st October\nHalf Marathon \nAll events will start and finish at Monaghan United Grounds in Gortakeegan\, Monaghan. \nStart times:\nFriday: 9:45 (Restricted entry to those doing B2B only)\nSaturday: 9 am\nSunday: 9 am\nTimes are subject to change\, however any changes will be communicated to all entrants.
