SUMMARY:The School Run
DESCRIPTION:The 2018 School Run formerly the Castlecomer Credit Union 10k will take place on Sunday 15th April. All proceed for the day go to the Presentation Convent National School in Castlecomer. \nBoth the 10k & 5k start at 10.30am. The Castlecomer 10k is two loops of 5k with 85% of it off road on beautiful trails. The 5k is one loop. The routes are the same as 2016. It starts on the Dublin Road just at the church and goes out the Dublin road past Ormonde Brick and then into the woods so the first 1k is slightly uphill. After approximately 1.5km there is a good downhill stretch which lasts for 1 kilometre. \nThe only other uphill of note is when running towards the elf village area but that is short. The finish line is close to the car park and main Discovery Park entrance. The beautiful setting of the Estate Yard is where our renowned post-race refreshments await. Chip Timing is being used for both 5k and 10k events.\nOnline registration is available up to 9pm on 13th April.

DESCRIPTION:This year’s 5k Glow Run will be held in memory of Jacinta O’Brien\, a former member of the Physical Education and Sports Science Department in UL who sadly passed away from SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome) in 2004. Jacinta completely immersed herself in the UL community\, in sport and within the PESS faculty. In remembrance of her passing\, each year a charity run is organized by the 2nd year Sport and Exercise Science students. \nThis year\, all the money raised from the run will be donated to Temple Street Children’s Hospital and Limerick Suicide Watch. Temple Street Hospital was chosen for their vital work in providing medical treatment for children throughout Ireland. Limerick Suicide watch aims to help people in distress or that may be feeling suicidal. Each week patrol teams are sent out to keep eyes on the river and be of assistance to anyone in need. SUMMARY:Liquid Motion Duathlon
DESCRIPTION:Liquid Motion Duathlon is taking place on the 8th of April and is the 8th race in the Ireland West Duathlon series. \nThe event is suitable for all abilities and the route is generally flat with some short hills. The race takes place in the seaside village of Enniscrone and takes in the beautiful beach and coast line of the surrounding areas. \nThe first run starts at the pier where transition is staged and follows the road down to the strand where competitors follow the markers to the turnaround. After returning on the same route to transition to collect your bike you will be marshaled out to a side road which joins the main Enniscrone to Easkey road.  The bike is a very fast out and back 20km course\, which follows the coast to the small village of Rathlee where you will meet the turn around point. The return route is the same road back and is mostly flat with one or two small hills when leaving Enniscrone. The 2nd run is a short 2.5km and is again flat and fast to burn what energy you have left. The course has some spectacular scenery and is not to be missed. \nPrizes for the top 3 male and female\, with some age categories thrown in for good measures. \n**Please note a Triathlon Ireland Licence is not required for this event. \nWe want to wish all competitors the very best of luck and look forward to seeing you all on the day.
