SUMMARY:Donegal Half Marathon 2021
DESCRIPTION:The race will take place in Letterkenny on Sunday\, August 29th\, 2021 starting at 9:20am.\nThere will also be a relay section\, which will see three-person teams each complete 7K \, a kids race and there will also be a virtual event.\nThe 2021 Donegal Half Marathon will be based at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny and gets underway at 9.20 am.\nEntry fee for this year’s event is €30 and the cost of a relay team is €75.\n2021 Tshirt and Medal Design: \n \nDonegal Half Marathon and Fáilte Ireland: \n\nWild Atlantic Way Manager says Donegal Half Marathon is ideal event to showcase county\n\n\nThe Donegal Half Marathon and Fáilte Ireland have teamed up to promote the Wild Atlantic Way this year\, with Fanad Lighthouse the iconic location being adopted as the theme of next month’s event.\nThe hundreds of participants taking part in the 2021 Donegal Half Marathon\, which takes place in Letterkenny on Sunday\, August 29th\, will receive a medal with a raised image of the famous Fanad Lighthouse as its centre piece.\nJoan Crawford\, Manager of the Wild Atlantic Way\, says the Donegal Half Marathon is an ideal event to help promote the county.\n“When the Donegal Half Marathon was initiated back in 2014\, the primary focus was on Letterkenny. This year\, the organising committee saw it as an opportunity to expand it out into the wider Donegal area. So\, we’ve gone with the Wild Atlantic Way theme\,” she commented.\n“We’ve 39 discovery points along the Wild Atlantic Way in Donegal and the primary focus this year is going to be Fanad Lighthouse. Fanad Lighthouse is one of our iconic signature points along the Wild Atlantic Way. So\, it gives us a great opportunity to showcase it both to the people taking part virtually\, and to those that are at home\,” Joan added.\n“It’s our intention to work with the Donegal Half Marathon in terms of showcasing those discovery points all along the Wild Atlantic Way\, so we have a partnership that’s going to be here for a long time to come. I think it’s a great incentive to get people involved and collecting those 39 medals that are the discovery points in Donegal.\n“The Donegal Half Marathon will assist us in promoting Donegal as a county\, to people both at home and abroad. The event had huge numbers taking part virtually last year. There’s an actual race this year\, so we’re hoping to see large number participating\,” the Wild Atlantic Way Manager said.\nThis year’s Donegal Half Marathon starts at 9.20 am and will be sponsored by the Kernan’s Retail Group\, with support from Donegal County Council\, Optum\, Donegal Sports Partnership and Donegal Volunteer Centre.\n\nEnter Now Click Here \n

SUMMARY:Cycle Against Suicide Bike4Life 2021
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Cycle Against Suicide’s Bike4Life 21 – Around the World\nEvery year\, on September 10th\, millions of people around the world come together to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. Cycle Against Suicide joins this global community as we once again hold our annual Bike4Life to mark this important day and join others in cycling ‘around the world’. This year\, we gather promoting evidence-based action to reduce the incidence of suicide and suicidal behaviour. \nMore than just a cyclethon\, our ‘Bike4Life’ is an opportunity to move for something that matters – for healing and recovery for those impacted by suicide; for the memory of loved ones lost to suicide; for hope in communities and families struggling with the impact of isolation and loneliness in these unprecedented times. \nOur Bike4Life goal this year is to cycle ‘around the world’ in one day\, promoting suicide awareness and prevention. \n  \nOne Day – One Goal.\nWe want to complete 42\,000Kms in a day and while doing it\, reignite the sense of community\, camaraderie and personal connection that has been missing from our lives due to COVID-19.\nOn September 10th\, gather your family and friends\, your school\, your club or your organisation and join Cycle Against Suicide on it’s ‘Bike4Life -Around the World’ campaign. Let us move together in support of suicide prevention and create a world where fewer people die by suicide. You can cycle any distance you want\, anywhere you want – at home\, at the gym\, on any road\, or on your favourite track. \nYour Bike4Life participation helps to raise awareness and funds that save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. Funds raised go towards increasing Cycle Against Suicide evidence-based supports and programmes into communities across Ireland. (Primary and Post Primary Schools’ Programmes and our Community Buddy Programme).\nIn Ireland\, one person each day is a victim to suicide\, with tens of thousands of people at risk. Every suicide destroys families and communities. It leaves immense uncertainty\, guilt\, regret and profound feelings of loss. Cycle Against Suicide is working hard to save lives and lessen the huge toll suicide places on families and communities through its evidence-based programmes and events. \nThis World Suicide Prevention Day\, September 10th\, 2021\, support the work of Cycle Against Suicide\, Hop on your bike\, and together\, let’s provide hope and encouragement to those who are struggling. \nOne Day – One Goal: REGISTER NOW CLICK HERE

DESCRIPTION:RUN\, WALK OR JOG 6K YOUR WAY \nHelp raise much needed funds for Cork charities. \n\n\nRegister online\nComplete 6k in your own time\nReceive a commemorative medal\nUpload your results\nFundraise for your charity\nDownload your finisher’s certificate\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMOST OF ALL … HAVE FUN! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Information: \n\nThis year we celebrate the 40th Echo Women’s Mini Marathon. We are happy to announce with organisers Cork Athletics Association that the event will take place as virtual offering again this year and we are hoping that as many people will take part to help support the many Cork charities that depend on the event’s participants who raise much needed funds every year. Cork Athletics will work closely with relevant authorities and Sport Ireland and if it becomes clearer in coming weeks and months that a live event element may become a possibility for September\, they will consider all options and public safety advice before making a decision and announcement regarding this and all participants who register for the virtual event will be given to option to upgrade their registration. \nThe event is 6km and you can complete that however you want either by walking\, running or jogging in your back garden! \nIn the event that the live race cannot go ahead again this year\, we encourage you to join us virtually in the spirit of the event on what would have been race day on September 19 and complete your 6k\, (We ask that you adhere to all government guidelines regarding public safety and social distancing that are in place at the time when completing your 6K). \nThe results portal will be open from September 16\, if you can’t complete your 6K on September 19 you can also do it from September 16 – September 26. You can upload your results here and download a certificate of completion.\nWe hope that the people of Cork will continue to support this fantastic event as they have always done over the past 40 years. Best of luck! \nLast Year’s Participants: \n“Even though our usual gang couldn’t be together last year we were there in spirit!” \n~2020 MINI MARATHON PARTICIPANT \n“It felt good to be able to raise money for charity and go our own pace\, strolling not running!” \n~2020 MINI MARATHON PARTICIPANT \n“We’ll never forget the 2020 mini marathon\, it gave us something good to focus on!” \n~2020 MINI MARATHON PARTICIPANT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n

SUMMARY:Mullingar Half Marathon 2021
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT US\n\n\n\n\n\nWe believe in the power of running for everyone\, from beginners to elite athletes. This flat course is ideal for your first half marathon or to achieve your personal best. The Mullingar Half Marathon starts in the town center\, runs out to the countryside\, along the Royal Canal and back to the Mullingar Town Park to the finish line. \nAll proceeds of the Mullingar Half Marathon go to our chosen charity T.E.A.M. (Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands). \n\n\n\nRacers Recieve\n\n\n\n\nWhile the 2020 Mullingar Half Marathon\, scheduled for March 17th\, had to be postponed only weeks before the event\, due to Covid\, the Mullingar Half Marathon organising committee put in a huge amount of work and committed a lot of expenditure putting everything in place in advance of the event. \nIn light of this and in keeping with our move to a more sustainable event\, and our ultimate objective to raise much needed funds for local charity T.E.A.M.\, we are going to utilise the 2020 merchandise for the upcoming 2021 event. This includes finishers medals and t-shirts\, which include the March 2020 date. \nWhile a big objective of the race is to create an enjoyable event for all runners we must also be mindful of our commitment to our local charity T.E.A.M. and be considerate of their fundraising shortfall in 2020. \nLike us\, a lot of you were disappointed the race couldn’t go ahead last year and couldn’t get your 2020 medals and t-shirts so we hope you will understand and support us in our sustainable and financial decision for utilising the fantastic 2020 merchandise.

SUMMARY:Run For Mary 2021
DESCRIPTION:Venue: Peterswell Village\, Co Galway \nThis is our 8th year running this event which has been organised in memory of our dear friend Mary Prendergast who passed away on 2nd January 2014 aged 42 years. Mary was a member of our local South Galway Athletics club and ran the Dublin City Marathon with us in 2004. Mary and Paddy got married in 2004 and were blessed to have three children Carlyn\, Roslyn and Zach. Baby Zach passed away when he was only one week old on June 4th 2012. Mary was diagnosed with cancer five months after loss of her baby Zach. Her courage and dignity during her battle with breast cancer was inspiring to all who knew her. \nAll proceeds from this fundraising event will go to two local charities: Galway Hospice and Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer Charity. Hand in Hand is a non-profit organisation based in Galway since 2006 that supports families who are affected by childhood cancer throughout Ireland. Their aim is to alleviate some of the stress\, anxiety and practical difficulties faced by families who have a child undergoing treatment for cancer\, through the provision of practical (laundry\, childcare\, domestic cleaning and family meals) and emotional support. We are welcoming all athletes\, runners\, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities to attend this memorial event. \nRegistration for the event can be done on Run Ireland. SUMMARY:Corofin Loops - 8k and 10 Mile
DESCRIPTION:After a COVID enforced break in 2020\, the annual Corofin Loops races are back this year! \nOnce again Corofin Athletic Club are offering two options\, an 8k race over a very flat course\, and a 10 mile race that is a little more challenging\, but nothing too steep or taxing! \nThe 10 mile race will start at 9am with the 8k starting at 9.30am. Please note the early start\, which has been chosen to take advantage of quiet roads at that time on a Sunday morning. The top prizes in the 10 Mile race (men and women)\, are €200 cash plus a perpetual trophy\, with €150 cash plus a perpetual trophy for the 8k race. These are amongst the best prizes on offer for road racing in the west. \nIn compliance with Athletics Ireland Covid protocols\, only online registrations are permitted. Entry for the 8k race is €20 until 30th September (early bird rate) and €25 thereafter. Entry for the 10 mile race is €30 until 30th September (early bird race) and €35 thereafter. \nFurther details are available from our facebook page – Corofin AC or email Niamh on corofinrunners@hotmail.com \nNumbers for each race are limited to 200\, again in accordance with Athletic Ireland protocols. \nHope to see you there\, and good to be back. \nRegister Now CLICK HERE

SUMMARY:Mullingar Marathon Mind
DESCRIPTION:Niall Breslin challenges the nation to join him and four newbie runners as they embark on one of the most testing of all endurance events\, a Marathon; 26.2 miles starting in Niall’s hometown of Mullingar. \n  \nIn March 2021\, Niall\, alongside a team of passionate professionals\, began coaching\, training and mentoring four individuals to complete a 26.2 mile marathon in a series called ‘Marathon Mind’\, and has been documenting every step\, setback and drop of sweat exclusively on Niall’s award-winning Where Is My Mind podcast. The aim of the series has been to train the mind to make the body strong\, not the other way around – and to invite listeners to join on their own journey\, too. \n  \nThe culmination of the ‘Marathon Mind’ journey will bring together the four individuals at the centre of the podcast series\, each with their own unique challenges in life\, to end their journey and complete 26.2 miles of mental\, emotional and physical endurance. And Niall\, and other podcast listeners who have been following their journey too\, will be with them for every step. \n  \nAfter a lengthy selection process with over 800 applicants\, the Marathon Mind team of experts selected four individuals with powerful personal stories and who had overcome significant adversity in their lives and were looking for a challenge to focus on. \n  \nThe individuals at the centre of the Marathon Mind journey and leading out the marathon in November are: \nMarion Russell Glengarrif\, Co. Cork \nMichelle McDonnell Brehony Keash\, Co. Sligo \nDanny Leahy Cork City\, Co. Cork \nPhelim Gallagher Dublin/Co. Galway \n  \nOver the nine months these four brave souls have been coached by an incredible team of focused and driven individuals which consists of Olympians and world champions. \nThe ‘Marathon Mind’ expert team consists of: \n  \nChartered Psychologist – Louize Carroll \nMindfulness Coach – Niall Breslin \nOlympian\, World Champion and Marathon Coach – Rob Heffernan \nOlympian\, Strength and Conditioning and Physiotherapy Coach – Colin Griffin \nSports Agent and Athlete Liaison – Derry McVeigh \nHead of Performance Sport at the Irish Institute of Sport\, Dietician – Sharon Madigan \nBehavioural Neuroscientist and Chartered Psychologist – Dr. Michael Keane \n  \n‘The Marathon’ event itself will take place on Saturday 13th November 2021 and will start and finish at Columb Barracks Mullingar while taking in the Old Rail Trail Greenway\, Royal Canal Greenway and the shores of Lough Ennell. Niall and the Marathon Mind team would love others to take on the Marathon challenge too\, and people can register for their place in the race from Wednesday 28th July 2021. The link will be shared across Niall’s and the Marathon Mind socials. If people want to come cheer the team on the sidelines\, they can follow the journey on the Marathon Mind social media and see the detailed map of the route closer to the date. \n  \nSpeaking about working with the four participants Niall says\, “I am blown away by the commitment of these four incredible individuals to a really tough\, sometimes gruelling\, regime. They’ve been absolute legends all four of them – facing the toughest mental and physical battles and pushing through – I can’t wait to smash the finish line with them and everyone else who joins us on the day.” \n  \nSpeaking on partnering with Marathon Mind\, Daithi O’Connor Founder and MD of Revive Active said:  \n  \n“We are delighted to be a part of the very first Marathon Mind in Mullingar.  Having opened our Revive Active production plant here just 3 years ago and created local employment we are very much at home in Mullingar.  We look forward to welcoming over 1000 athletes to Mullingar and supporting their journey along the way” \n  \nMarathon Mind has been an exciting venture for the Where Is My Mind podcast and the series were some of the most-listened to episodes this year. The podcast explores different coping skills for the ever-changing\, always-on\, head-melty world we’re now living in; from hormones\, to politics\, to tattooing\, to managing rage\, to uncovering what goes on in the therapy room. This year\, Niall has spoken to some incredible guests\, from An Taoiseach Michael Martin\, to Mike Ryan (WHO)\, to global mindfulness guru Dan Harris. The podcast won creative podcast of the year at the British Podcast Awards in July 2020. \nStream the latest episode of Where Is My Mind?  \n  \nFollow the ‘Marathon Mind’ journey on social media; \n  \nInstagram – @marathonmindofficial or @bressie\nFacebook – @whereismymindpodcast\nTwitter – @nbrez
