SUMMARY:Leenane 5 Mile Run | Jog | Walk 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Leenane / Maam branch of the Irish Red Cross are hosting a 5 Mile Run\, Jog\, Walk\, through Leenane on Sunday 17th November 2022. This is the fourteenth year of this event. \nAll funds raised from this event go towards the upkeep of the Community Cardiac First Responders Group\, \nThe Cardiac First Responders Group have already been instrumental in saving several lives and are a vital resource for this rural area. \nThe run will start and finish in Leenane Village. This 5 mile run will take in some on the breath-taking scenery along Killary Harbour and will include the award winning Golden Mile in Glanagimla. \nThis activity is for all serious runners and joggers\, but it will be open to anyone who might enjoy this fun activity. The plan is to have lots of craic at the end of the race where people from the village will provide teas\, cakes and treats for all those who participated. The volunteers involved in the unit work tireless in their efforts and are present at every outdoor event in the county to help render First Aid when necessary. \nThe Race starts at 14:00 at the Leenane Hotel and registration will take place in the Leenane Community Hall from 12 noon onwards. DESCRIPTION:GLENDALOUGH LAP OF THE GAP\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA marathon through the scenic heart of County Wicklow starting in Glendalough and taking in the ‘Sally Gap’. Plenty of hills are repaid with plenty of scenery and a warm Wicklow welcome! \nCyclists have long known the allure of the ‘Lap of the Gap’ circuit taking you from the village of Laragh to the highland pass of Sallygap and back past Lough Tay (the ‘Guiness Lake’). A scenic route with plenty of ups and plenty of downs. From quiet country back lanes to the barren and dramatic heather landscapes once you pass the Glenmacnass Waterfall. Both our marathon and half-marathon adds a ‘tail’ to the traditional Lap of the Gap to allow you to start in the monastic village of Glendalough – one of Ireland’s most popular tourist destinations. \nWe hope you will get not just a race out of our event – but an experience for a lifetime. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note we have strict limits to how many runners we can allow on the roads of the National Park so we may sell out ahead of the day – best sign-up early to avoid disappointment! \nPRIZES \nThere will be prizes for top-3 men and women and the first finisher in each of the following categories: over-40\, over-50\, over-60\, over-70 and so on. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for the marathon or half-marathon \n
