SUMMARY:The Kennedy Challenge
DESCRIPTION:This is the second year of this event which received really positive feedback last year. This event is run by a local GAA club. Moneys raised are being put towards developing a track around the pitches at the club which will be available all year for walkers/runners.    \nBoth routes on The Kennedy Challenge follow wonderfully scenic courses. The run starts at Horeswood GAA pitch. From the pitch  you turn right and run towards Whitechurch village where the 6k route will be directed left and run back to the pitch . The 12k route takes you straight at Whitechurch village  turning toward Dunganstown where you will run through the JFK Kennedy homestead\, the ancestral home of John F Kennedy American President (The first water station is here also). After this you will continue though the countryside re-joining the 6 k route ( and another water station) and back to the pitch.   \nMarshals will direct you at each point and we have kilometre markers. To be honest the  route is undulating! There are some hills but we hope that the our scenery will help! Based on very positive feedback from our walkers last year this year we are actively encouraging 12k walkers and to ‘Hike to the Homestead’ on the day as well.   \nA 4k under 16 run also takes place on the day. For this event we are escorting  the U16 entrants to a alternate start point in Whitechurch and letting then run from there. Alternatively Under 16 s are welcome to walk the 6k course.  \nWe have staggered start times so that we will finish more or less at the same time so that everyone gets the great atmosphere at the end of the race. We will have refreshments at the finish as well as prizegiving.  Prizes for 1st and 2nd male and female in all races with cash prizes for 1st and 2nd in the 12k . SUMMARY:Strawberry 5 Mile and 10 Mile Road Race
DESCRIPTION:This is the second year of the event which comprises a new 10 mile and a 5 mile road race. The race takes place at the height of the Strawberry Season. \nThe race is hosted this year exclusively by Slaney Olympic AC as a club fundraiser. \nEntry fees have been kept to a minimum while still retaining the usual high standards of the race. The 10 Mile runners will receive a custom made medal and a custom buff whilst the 5 mile runners will just receive the medal. \nUp to 22nd June entry fees are: 10 mile race €20; 5 mile Race €15\, thereafter on race day entries are 10 mile €25 and 5 Mile €20. \nThe event will attract everyone from the country’s top athletes to the club and fun runners. There are pacers for the 10 miles at 60 mins\, 70 mins\, 80 mins and 90 mins to help participants achieve their goals.\nThere will be prizes (more details later) in the open races and and all veteran categories. All runners receive a special Finisher’s Medal and tea/coffee and sandwiches at the Riverside Park Hotel. \nThe races start and finish on the banks of the River Slaney in the historic town of Enniscorthy. The 10 Mile route runs along the river\, through the town and past the castle before heading out on tree lined roads through the pastoral County Wexford countryside in all its summer glory. All water stations supply 250ml bottles. \nThe event is renowned for its festive and friendly atmosphere with music and race commentary and a start /finish area which is second to none. \nEvent details and schedule\nStart Time: 10am for 10 Mile and 10.30 for 5 mile raceThis is the seconf year of the event which comprises a new 10 mile and a 5 mile road race. DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 27  June\, the GT5K moves to Ballybrit racecourse. This will be the second year that the GT5K series takes place at Galway Racecourse  \nNo “i” in team: Enter as part of a company team of four with three categories available: male\, female and mixed.
