SUMMARY:Castle Tri Virtual Race Series - Week 2
DESCRIPTION:In these unprecedented times when we all need to stay at home to protect ourselves and society at large\, The Castle Series who host Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon in Galway have launched their inaugural virtual race series for all ages and abilities. All to keep as many people as possible connected\, fit and sane in this period of unprecedented lockdown\, and to raise as much money as possible for their charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support. \nFollowing the success of their Easter Virtual Challenge\, the Castle Virtual Series will run three events\, across three weekends in April and May\, with three country themes to mirror their summer programme of European events. Whether you’re 8 or 88 there is a race for you. All competitors are welcome to race virtually with The Castle Series community from within the boundaries of your home and immediate surroundings. \nThe Virtual Series will celebrate the host countries of the Castle Triathlon Series events across France\, UK and Ireland. You can sign up to one\, two or all three events. \n\n\n\n\n\n 24th – 26th April Vive La France\n 8th – 10th May VE Day 75th Anniversary\n 22nd – 24th May  Luck of the Irish\n\nChoose from 7 different run/bike/run duathlon options and three running distances. Track your progress throughout each weekend on our leader board and tune in for the live prize-giving ceremony on Facebook. \n\n\nPrizes will be awarded for gender winners in each age and distance category and special awards will be provided for the most creative course design and best dressed. \n\n \nTo create a truly community event\, they are asking all participants to carry out their challenge over the event weekends making the most of the space and time you have to exercise in a safe but competitive environment. \nGiving Back\n\n\n\nThe Castle Virtual Series will donate 20% of each race entry fee to their long-term charity partner\, Macmillan Cancer Support. DESCRIPTION:#TheBigRugbyRun\, a new exciting virtual team relay challenge event being held on Saturday 9th May and targeting the Irish grassroots rugby community\, launched online at www.thebigrugbyrun.com. \nThe initiative\, the brainchild of PSA Academies Directors Graham Ross & Johne Murphy\, is looking to raise significant funds for Feed The Heroes (www.feedtheheroes.com)\, as they continue to  #fuelthefrontline fighting the battle against COVID-19 across Ireland. \n#TheBigRugbyRun will involve current or past rugby teams\, from Minis Under 10s age group up to retired veterans\, registering to run or walk a virtual relay over the half marathon (21km) or full marathon (42km) distance\, whilst still observing the Government guidelines regarding social distancing and staying within 2kms of home.  Each team will be set the challenge of raising a minimum of €50 for Feed The Heroes\, with all underage teams participating going into a free-to-enter post-event Grand Prize Draw to win prizes from some leading sports and other brands. \nEx-Munster player and Newbridge College SCT Head Coach Johne Murphy said “We’re delighted to launch #TheBigRugbyRun and hope that it gives young and older rugby teams and people from across the country an ideal opportunity to get back in touch with each other\, commit to a physical challenge and raise money for a fantastic cause.  We’re all missing the usual end-of-season excitement now more than ever but hopefully #TheBigRugbyRun can help to mark the end of season with something unique and fitting for the times that we’re in.  We’re excited to be extending our support of Feed The Heroes through this event and are hoping #TheBigRugbyRun will help raise more money for the fund.”  \nFor more information on #TheBigRugbyRun\, visit www.thebigrugbyrun.com\, or email  info@thebigrugbyrun.com or \nTo donate to the Feed The Heroes fund go to www.feedtheheroes.com.
