SUMMARY:3 Marathons or  3 Half Marathons in 2 days + 50k & 100k
DESCRIPTION:3 marathons in 2 days is an endurance challenge. This is the 6th edition of the event which takes place in Ballina\, Co. Mayo. \n2020 is the 3rd year when we offer choice of 3 half marathons in addition to 3 full marathons\, and first time when we are holding a 100k and 50k run on the first day of the challenge! \nAnd you can take part in 1\, 2 or 3 events – it’s all up to yourself. \nSo Ballina is calling you on the weekend of 29th February & 1st March 2020. Come\, join us and challenge yourself. \n3 marathons/halfs\, 2 days\, 1 location and 3 different courses. \nSchedule: \n29th February (Saturday) \n– morning event – full marathon\, 50k and 100k starts @ 7am\, half marathon start @ 9am. Course is 2 loops around Ballina/Killala area for a full a marathon and out and back run for the half marathon. Cut off time is 1pm and applies only to half and full marathon runners. 50k runners will have to complete additional 5 mile loop after completing a marathon course\, while 100k runners will have to complete 5 mile loop twice before switching to afternoon marathon course! \n– afternoon event – full & half marathon starts @3pm. Course – looped course – loop length is 1522m\, therefore you have to complete 14 laps for half and 28 laps for a full marathon. All runners have to have a head torch after 5:30pm \nCutoff time is 9pm. \n1st March (Sunday) \n3 distances to choose from – half marathon(start @9am)\, full marathon & 50k (start @8am). \nCourse – looped course with a loop of 1.65mile long – so 8 laps for a half\, 16 for a full and 19 for 50k. Cut of is 3:30pm \nAll events HQ is located right beside a start&finish line @ Ballina Town Soccer Club. \nChanging rooms\, showers\, and food will be available @ the clubhouse. \nSt. John’s ambulance will be present during the event. \nEvents are chip-timed and all finishers will receive finisher medal upon completion of the course. \n

DESCRIPTION:  \n**This event has been posgtponed due to COVID19 restrictions** \nWhen does the Aon Mullingar Half Marathon take place? \nThe Race is on Tuesday the 17th March 2020 – St. Patrick’s Day \nHow do I get there? \nMullingar is in the centre of Ireland so is within travelling distance of almost anywhere. From Dublin you would travel west on the M4\, if coming from the west you would travel east along the N4. From Galway you would travel on the N6 and verge on to the N4 at Kinnegad. The GPS Co-ordinates are Latitude: 53.52576832854349 Longitude: -7.33826637268066 \nWhat time does the race start? \n10.30AM \nHow do I enter? \nYou can enter online via our website or you can enter on the day\, entrants on the day cannot be guaranteed a t-shirt. \nHow much is it to enter? \nLimited number of Early Bird Entries at €30 plus a booking fee \nLimited  number of entries at €35 plus a booking fee \nLimited  number of entries at €40 plus a booking fee \nEntry available on the day if the event is not sold out (17th of March 2019) €50 \nWhere is the Raceday HQ? \nTBC \nHow do I pick up my number?/Where will the number pick-up be? \nRace numbers can be picked up from the Race HQ at the following times: \nMonday 16th of March: 5.00pm to 8.00pm (Provisional) \nTuesday 17th of March: 8.00am to 9.30am (Provisional) \nWill the race be chipped? \nYes\, the race will be chip timed  \nIs the race AAI Certified? \nThe course has been AI measured and we have applied for our permit through Mullingar Harriers AC \nAre there T-Shirts? \nYes – Each person who enters online will receive a Mullingar Half Marathon Technical T-Shirt \nAre there finishers Medals? \nYes \nAre there pacers? \nYes there will be pacers – 1:30\, 1:40\, 1:50\,  2:00 and 2:10. \nWill the roads be closed? \nThe roads will be open to traffic but well marshaled with help from the Gardaí Traffic Corps. After around 2miles runners will be on very quiet roads and at around the halfway mark runners will be on the Royal Canal which will be free from vehicular traffic \nWill there be parking? \nThere are a number of large public car parks close to the start area and parking will be free on St. Patrick’s day. \nWill I get an official time? \nYes. The Mullingar Half Marathon will use chip timing technology and every participant will receive an accurate finishing time for their race. \nIs the course marked in miles or kilometres? \nThe course will be marked in Kilometres and Miles \nWill there be water stations on the course? \nThere will be water stations at 3 locations along the course. \nApproximately 5 km mark\,10 km mark and 17 km mark and of course at the finish. \nWill there be refreshments available after the race? \nYes there will be soup and sandwiches in the Mullingar Town Park afterwards for the athlete only. \nWill there be Physios available after the race? \nUnfortunately No \nWill there be showers available after the race? \nThere are no shower facilities. \nWill there be toilets? \nYes there are plenty of toilet facilities at the start and finish and there will also be toilet facilities at around the 5 and 9 mile mark along the route. \nWhere can I put my bag? \nThere will be a bag drop in the Race HQ\, however It is recommended to travel light or store your bag in your car so as to avoid congestion at the bag drop \nWhat time will the bag drop area be open? \nThe Bag Drop will be in the Race HQ and will be open from 9.30am until 1pm on the day of the event. \nCan I enter on the Day? \nYes\, However the charge is slightly higher at €50 and there will be no new entrants after 9:30 am – This is depending on the event not being sold out. \nI have already entered but can’t make it\, what are my options? \nUnfortunately we are unable to facilitate refunds or deferrals of entries. For safety reasons only the person who is registered should compete – numbers should not be transferred to others. \nCan I walk the course? \nAs this is a half marathon it is not advisable to walk the course. The St. Patrick’s Day parade is due to start in the town that afternoon so our Marshalls will be unable to remain along the route long enough to facilitate walkers \nIs there a minimum age? \nAs the race is longer than a 10k under 18’s are not permitted to participate for insurance reasons \nWhere does the race start? \nThe race starts in the centre of Mullingar at the roundabout beside McDonalds \nWhere does the race finish? \nThe finish line will be in the centre of the Town Park (Which is adjacent to the Annebrook House Hotel) \nWhen will the results be available? \nThe results should be available immediately upon completion on the timing companies website: MyRunResults \nWhat are the Prize categories? \nPrizes will be awarded in the following categories: \nMale Senior\, 40\, 50 and over 60 \nFemale Senior\, 40\, 50 and over 60 \nWhat accommodation is available? \nAON Mullingar Half Marathon would recommend the Annebrook House Hotel. The hotel is ideally located if you choose to stay a few either the night before or night of the race. The Annebrook House Hotel has a special rate for those participating in the race.
