It takes place in the scenic setting of Clontarf Promenade and Bull Island with views of Howth Head and Dublin bay. The race is contained within an off road promenade and Bull Island giving it unique and relaxing appeal. \nBoth races are open to runners/ joggers and walkers. The flat terrain makes it an ideal race to aim for a PB. The half marathon has pacers to help you achieve your Goal. SUMMARY:COROFIN LOOPS 8k and 10 mile
DESCRIPTION:This year Corofin Athletics Club\, Co. Galway are offering two options for their annual road race\, the usual 8k race following the same route as recent years\, and a new 10 Mile route. The 8k route is very flat\, while the 10-mile route has some hills but nothing too steep or taxing! \nThe 10 Mile race will start at 9.00am\, with the 8k race starting at 9.30am. Race entrants for both races are asked to assemble at the local Community Centre (Dr Duggan Hall) 15 mins prior to the start of their chosen race. \nBoth race routes have been accurately measured and permitted by Athletics Ireland. Red Tag Timing will provide chip timing for both races. \nFirst\, second and third place prizes will be awarded for men and women in each race\, plus multiple age category winners. \nFacilities\nLimited changing facilities will be available at the Community Centre and (non-valuable) items such as tracksuit tops etc. can be left there. Toilet facilities will be available in the Community Centre and post-race refreshments will also be served there. Additional toilets will be available in adjacent facilities. Hydration stations will be provided on both routes. \nRegistration\nEntry for the 8k race is €15 online and €20 on the day. Entry for the 10 Mile race is €20 online and €25 on the day. Online registration can be accessed via: \nhttps://register.primoevents.com/ps/event/CorofinLoops8k10mileraces/ \nOnline registration will close one week before the races. Registration will be open on the Saturday evening (2nd) between 5pm to 7pm and on the morn of the race from 7.30am till 8.30am in the Community Centre where race packs will be available. \nRace Routes\nThe 10 Mile race starts in Corofin Village itself and continues east of the village\, crossing the Tuam-Athenry Road at the Palm Tree pub\, east in the general direction of Ballyglunin\, looping around at Garra\, continuing to Ballinstack\, crossing the Tuam-Athenry Road at the Gills pub and back to the finish line at the Community Centre in Corofin village. \n \nThe 8k race starts at An Dunan just west of Corofin Village. The race follows a loop around Cummer\, via St. Colman’s National School\, Pollinore\, Curry and Curryoughter. A left turn is taken at the crossroad for the last stretch back to the finish line at the Community Centre in Corofin village. \n \nDirections to Corofin\nThe village of Corofin is located south of Tuam. It is easily accessed from the N84 (Galway to Tuam) road\, previously called the N17\, or from the R347 (Athenry to Tuam) road. \nT-shirts for the first 200 registered.

SUMMARY:Strawberry 5 Mile and 10 Mile Road Race
DESCRIPTION:This is the second year of the event which comprises a new 10 mile and a 5 mile road race. The race takes place at the height of the Strawberry Season. \nThe race is hosted this year exclusively by Slaney Olympic AC as a club fundraiser. \nEntry fees have been kept to a minimum while still retaining the usual high standards of the race. The 10 Mile runners will receive a custom made medal and a custom buff whilst the 5 mile runners will just receive the medal. \nUp to 22nd June entry fees are: 10 mile race €20; 5 mile Race €15\, thereafter on race day entries are 10 mile €25 and 5 Mile €20. \nThe event will attract everyone from the country’s top athletes to the club and fun runners. There are pacers for the 10 miles at 60 mins\, 70 mins\, 80 mins and 90 mins to help participants achieve their goals.\nThere will be prizes (more details later) in the open races and and all veteran categories. All runners receive a special Finisher’s Medal and tea/coffee and sandwiches at the Riverside Park Hotel. \nThe races start and finish on the banks of the River Slaney in the historic town of Enniscorthy. The 10 Mile route runs along the river\, through the town and past the castle before heading out on tree lined roads through the pastoral County Wexford countryside in all its summer glory. DESCRIPTION:The Lacken Beer Barrel Run will take place on 22nd June in the beautiful North Mayo coastal village of Kilcummin\, Lacken. Teams of eight must somehow carry a 72kg beer barrel along a (literally) breath-taking 8.5km coastal route. There’s one rule\, the barrel must not touch the ground! \nKilcummin is best known as the scene of the famous landing in 1798 of the French General Humbert as well as its vast golden strand\, rolling sand dunes and lush green fields\, located on the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way in Co. Mayo. Now the local community wants to make it synonymous with one of the most demanding adventure races in Ireland. \nIt is up to the competitors how they carry their barrel. Only stipulations are that the carrying device must not have wheels\, and your barrel must be secured to it. \nThis fundraising event – the first of its kind in Ireland – will take place on Saturday\, June 22 at 2pm\, supported by Marc Reilly\, partner of J. DESCRIPTION:Run like the wind 2018\nBasics: Start time 11am on Saturday the 8th September 2018.\nLocation: Galway Wind Park\, Seecon East\, Cloosh Valley\, Oughterard- Feirm Ghaoithe\, Uachtar Ard.\nThere will be a 4k and an 8k race. This event is run by local athletics club Corrib AC and is AAI permitted.\nAdvantages of this event:\n• No cars\n• Opportunity to try elevations\n• Beautiful location\n• Finish on a 900m down-hill\n• Options of 8k & 4k routes\n• 8k perfect for those who have completed the Streets of Galway 8k training or are planning to run the Carna 10k.\n• 4k ideal for those starting their XC training\n• Friendly atmosphere & lovely goodies afterwards.\nThere are striking technical t-shirts for entrants.\nPrizes:\nPrizes for:\n• The first three male and female athletes in both races.\n• The fastest male and female juvenile runner in the 4k- aged 14-17 years.\n• Corrib AC members will be competing to be the fastest club member in the 4k and 8k.\nThe Galway Wind Park\, (Seecon East) is located in the Cloosh Valley on the R372\, approximately 7km south west of Oughterard\, Co Galway/ Uachtar Ard\, Co. Na Gaillimhe. This is approximately 33kms from Galway City and takes on average 45-50 minutes to travel.\nIf coming from Galway city\, travel on the Clifden road N59 to Oughterard (30 minutes). In Oughterard\, turn left onto Station road\, Oughterard (this is the left hand turn just before the bridge and the RC church\, continuing on the R372 for approximately 7km ( Bóthar Sheanadh Phéistín/ “Shannapheasteen” road).\nPlease note that sections of the Shannapheasteen road from Oughterard are narrow. The race start point is on the left-hand side at car park 2\, Seecon East. Please continue past this to park.\nWe highly recommend car pooling.\nParking: The carpark for race athletes; registration and toilets are based at the operations centre of the Wind Park-on the right-hand side about 1km away from the start point.\nhttps://goo.gl/maps/pgE6e2gT52B2\nRegistration: Registration will take place from 09:30-10:40am.\nNB strict age restrictions: Please don’t bring younger children to the race location unless there is a non-running adult with the child. Children younger than 14years of age will not be allowed to run. This is based on athletic guidelines.\n• 4k race only for those 14 years of age & older.\n• 8k race only for those 16 years of age & older.\nEntry fee: €20 for 8k. €15 for 4k.\nDetails on 8k race: An up and back down route.\nThe first 3k of the route involves gradual ascents with some downhill sections; there is a tougher ascent after the 3k mark.\nAt the 4k mark\, runners will turn around and enjoy a nice downhill section\, followed by 5-6 small ascents mingled with downhill/flat sections; ultimately finishing on a pleasant downhill. In summary the first 4k of the route is the hardest section so pace yourself and aim for a negative split on the way back.\n4k route:\nAn out & back route.The first 900m will have gradual ascents\, taking a left hand turn downhill\, turn at turbine 15\, running uphill turn into and out of a short side route toward turbine 14\, continue uphill\, ascend and finish on a nice downhill piece. Again pacing is important.\nOther Info:\nBoth 4k and the 8k participants will start from and finish at the same point and at the same time.\nAfter the first 900m the 4k participants will turn left for their first downhill section while the 8k participants will continue straight.\nWater available at start\, 4k (midpoint of 8k race) and finish line. \nThe surface is compacted sand-gravel with some loose gravel/small stones in spots and occasional shallow potholes.\nTo get updates\, checkout facebook (www.facebook.com/corribathleticclub)

SUMMARY:Galway Clinic Streets of Galway
DESCRIPTION:GCH who are one of Ireland’s largest athletics clubs\, will host the 33rd edition of the famous Streets of Galway 8K road-race on Saturday 11th August 2018 at 7pm around the city centre and Salthill. This event is the jewel in the crown of road races in the West and is a fixture on the Irish running calendar. \nThe race route starts at Fr Griffin Road in the city and takes in many of the sights of Galway city. including the Spanish Arch\, Eyre Square \, the landmark Galway Cathedral and NUI Galway early on in the race. The course then routes out towards Salthill\, past Pearse Stadium and then back in on the ‘Prom’ along Galway Bay for the last \, fast section into the finish at the historic Claddagh. The event was first staged in 1986 and the ethos from the start to the present day has always been “sport for all”. The race attracts runners of all standards and ages from all over Ireland and abroad – from elite international athletes\, to athletics club runners\, competitors from other sports and fun-runners\, joggers and walkers alike. This year well over 3\,000 runners will take part in what is a truly iconic race on the calendar and is one not to be missed.
