The event is a Fun/Run involving walkers and Runners to raise funds for cancer support services in Monaleen\, Castletroy Limerick. \nThis event takes place from Monaleen GAA clubhouse with the runners setting out first and follows a safe course mostly on foopaths. The degree of difficulty is modest involving mostly level terrain with two climbs involved in the 10km\, no real climb in the 5km. We issue numbers to runners and list their order of completion\, however we do not time runners. \nThe event is well marshalled. Refreshments are provided during and after the event. DESCRIPTION:Inis Iron Meáin is the original Island road race which continues to impress runners year after year! This event has been so successful for the past 15 years that it has inspired many other communities to stage similar events. ‘Lá an 10K’ is a major social event for Inis Meáin\, that sees the return of many familiar faces year after year.\n \nColáiste Naomh Eoin\, the Island’s secondary school\, is one of Ireland’s most successful small schools and this event is key to ensuring that the school continues to thrive thus ensuring the viability of this Atlantic gem. The course is exceptionally scenic with a choice between a 5km or 10km road race or a more difficult 12km route which includes a spectacular beach run along Ceann Gainimh. We have come a long way since Head Coach Kenneth O’Driscoll founded Cherry Orchard Running Club in 2013.\nKenneth began with finding his own passion for running and wondered “why is everyone in Ballyfermot not out running”? He encouraged his friends and family to get out with him\, and soon a little crew was formed and they spent many a weekend running through the Phoenix Park. \nKenneth’s crew grew larger and larger and over time he linked in with Familibase to become an official AAI recognised Running Club\, the first in Ballyfermot May I add!\nCoach Ken (as he’s now known) not only had a crew to run with\,he now had a team of supports and soon the club evolved to an adult and kid club. Currently we have over 200 registered members both adults and kids. \nWe participate in races all over Ireland and our sea of Orange is recognisable for miles. \nNow it’s your turn to join our race and help us celebrate our big birthday! \n

Galway on\nSaturday Nov 11th 2023.\nThis is our 10th year running this event which has been organised in memory of our dear\nfriend Mary Prendergast who passed away on 2nd January 2014 aged 42 years. Mary was a member of our local South Galway Athletics club and ran the Dublin City Marathon with us in 2004.\nMary and Paddy got married in 2004 and were blessed to have three children Carlyn\, Roslyn and Zach. Baby Zach passed away when he was only one week old on June 4th 2012. Mary was diagnosed with cancer 5 months after the loss of baby Zach. Her courage and dignity during her battle with breast cancer was inspiring to all who knew her.\nAll proceeds from this fundraising event will go to two charities\, Galway Hospice and Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer Charity.\nWe are welcoming all athletes\, runners\, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities to\nattend this memorial event.\nPlease remember to invite your friends and family! \n  \nRegister Now CLICK HERE
