DESCRIPTION:Thursday June 30th 2022 marks the 3rd anniversary of local man Alan Mahon\, who tragically passed away while climbing Mt Elbrus\, the highest peak in Russia and Europe in 2019. \nThis year\, with the generous support of Kildangan Stud\, the local community will pay tribute to Alan with a 5k chipped run through the grounds of Kildangan Stud. Registration for the 5k run is available here and starts at 6.30pm sharp. DESCRIPTION:PORTUMNA GAA CLUB FOREST PARK 5km/10km RUN/WALK SUNDAY 31st JULY 2022: \nPortumna GAA Club are once again hosting 5km and 10km run/walks around the beautiful Portumna Forest Park at 12 noon on Sunday 31st July.  This is our third year and with 200+ runners and walkers in 2019 we are going strong!  Had a 2-year break due to covid but are back now better than ever. \nThe 5km is on forest roads and will accommodate dedicated runners but is also suitable for walkers/families/buggies.  The 10km will take you deep into the forest and is a proper 10km race on mainly single-track trails in the trees\, broken up by stretches of forest road ideal for passing. \nThe routes will be on separate circuits around the forest\, both well signed and marshalled. Km markers and water will be in place around the courses. As always\, the run will be chipped timed and so all participants will receive a text with their time after the event – a real bonus for the more competitive runners! \nLooking for support with training for the 5km? DESCRIPTION:The annual Run for Mary 5km Run/Jog/Walk is taking place in Peterswell Galway on Nov 12thth 2022. \nThis event has been organised in memory of our dear friend Mary Prendergast who passed away on 2nd January 2014 aged 42 years. Mary was a member of our local South Galway Athletics club and ran the Dublin City Marathon with us in 2004. \nMary and Paddy got married in 2004 and were blessed to have three children Carlyn\, Roslyn and Zach. Baby Zach passed away when he was only one week old on June 4th 2012. Mary was diagnosed with cancer 5 months after the loss of baby Zach. Her courage and dignity during her battle with breast cancer was inspiring to all who knew her. \nAll proceeds from this fundraising event will go to two charities. The charities for the 2021 event are: Galway Hospice and Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer Charity. \nWe are welcoming all athletes\, runners\, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities to attend this memorial event. \nPlease remember to invite your friends and family! \nRegister Now CLICK HERE
