SUMMARY:Run for Mary 5km Run/Jog/Walk
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 10th November 2018 at 12 noon \nVenue: Peterswell Village\, Co Galway \nThis is our 5th year running this event which has been organised in memory of our dear friend Mary Prendergast who passed away on 2nd January 2014 aged 42 years. Mary was a member of our local South Galway Athletics club and ran the Dublin City Marathon with us in 2004. Mary and Paddy got married in 2004 and were blessed to have three children Carlyn\, Roslyn and Zach. Baby Zach passed away when he was only one week old on June 4th 2012. Mary was diagnosed with cancer five months after loss of her baby Zach. Her courage and dignity during her battle with breast cancer was inspiring to all who knew her. \nAll proceeds from this fundraising event will go to two local charities: Galway Hospice and Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer Charity. Hand in Hand is a non-profit organisation based in Galway since 2006 that supports families who are affected by childhood cancer throughout Ireland. Their aim is to alleviate some of the stress\, anxiety and practical difficulties faced by families who have a child undergoing treatment for cancer\, through the provision of practical (laundry\, childcare\, domestic cleaning and family meals) and emotional support. We are welcoming all athletes\, runners\, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities to attend this memorial event. \nRegistration for the event can be done on Run Ireland. Please see details of race registration below! Please find and like us on Facebook & invite your friends and family www.facebook.com/Run4Mary

SUMMARY:The Struggle 10k / 5k
DESCRIPTION:The Struggle 10k / 5k \nNow in its 6th Year hosted by Doon Community Council \nHeadquarters – Doon Community Centre\, Togher Road\, Doon\, Co. Limerick \nRegistration 12.00-12.45pm \, Race Starts at 1.00pm \n(Race Start time has been amended from original start time to 1pm) \nThis year\, the Struggle 10k / 5k is raising funds for the Red Cross\, Doon Community Center & other good causes\nIn spite of the name\, its not the hardest run in the world. The 5k is a pretty easy run. (The 5k is timed but classed as a Fun Run) As for 10k\,(Measured with Jones Counter) It climbs on and off between 1k and 6k\, more of long slow climb\, by the time you get to the 6k marker\, all the work is done\, last 4k is down hill\, it’s a gradual fall and makes the last 4k an easy easy enough run. If you’ve run Dunlickey Hill in Kilkee\, on paper\, this is a harder run\, but running it\, it isn’t any harder\, more of a good test \nThere is a 7k Walk run in conjunction with both runs \n  \n
