It has been run since 1961 along the same route. Now in its 60th year\, is run from Farranfore to Firies and back to the finish in Farranfore. \nStart & Finish is at the Kerry Mill in Farranfore\, running close to the cross-roads in Firies and returning via the same route. Road closed to traffic so you can enjoy the day without having to worry about any traffic concerns. \nThe 5K Timed Race is open to all those aged 13 years and over on race day. (Race permit rules).\nDue to popular demand we have added a 2K Family Fun Run / Walk to ensure the whole family can enjoy the day. This promises to be a really exciting morning of running catering for all\, runners and families alike. \nEntry fees \n5k = 15 euro\n2k = 10 euro \nOption to purchase event t-shirt including postage during registration\, t-shirts will be posted out in batches from mid December & after event. \n

DESCRIPTION:Venue: Peterswell Village\, Co Galway \nThis is our 8th year running this event which has been organised in memory of our dear friend Mary Prendergast who passed away on 2nd January 2014 aged 42 years. Mary was a member of our local South Galway Athletics club and ran the Dublin City Marathon with us in 2004. Mary and Paddy got married in 2004 and were blessed to have three children Carlyn\, Roslyn and Zach. Baby Zach passed away when he was only one week old on June 4th 2012. Mary was diagnosed with cancer five months after loss of her baby Zach. Her courage and dignity during her battle with breast cancer was inspiring to all who knew her. \nAll proceeds from this fundraising event will go to two local charities: Galway Hospice and Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer Charity. Hand in Hand is a non-profit organisation based in Galway since 2006 that supports families who are affected by childhood cancer throughout Ireland. Their aim is to alleviate some of the stress\, anxiety and practical difficulties faced by families who have a child undergoing treatment for cancer\, through the provision of practical (laundry\, childcare\, domestic cleaning and family meals) and emotional support. We are welcoming all athletes\, runners\, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities to attend this memorial event. \nRegistration for the event can be done on Run Ireland. DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED \nWas Re-Scheduled for 4th October 2020. \nPortumna GAA Club are once again hosting 5km and 10km trail races around the beautiful Portumna Forest Park at 12 noon on Sunday 4th October.  This is our third year and with 200+ runners last year we are going strong! \nThe 5k is on forest roads/trails and will accommodate dedicated runners but is also suitable for walkers/families/buggies.  The 10k will take you deep into the forest and is a proper 10k race on mainly single-track trails between the trees\, broken up by stretches of forest road ideal for passing. \nThe races will be on separate circuits around the forest\, both well signed and marshalled. Km markers and water will be in place around the courses. Free tea/coffee for all runners/walkers at the pitch after the races. \nBoth races start at 12pm sharp from Portumna GAA Club.  \nRegistration online here or in the GAA club from 11am.  Online registrations will close on Saturday 3rd at 8pm.  A draw will take place for a free entry for one online entrant. The races will again be followed by a BBQ and family fun-day. Prize giving at 1.30pm.\n \nAdult entry €10 (enter here). Kids (under 16) €5\, family €20. DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately due to the restrictions from Covid 19\, Breffni 3 Province Challenge 2020 will not be going ahead. \nWe are heartbroken making this decision as we know our charities are already struggling in their fundraising efforts due to the pandemic. \nAnyone who has already registered will be contacted shortly with the option to transfer their registration to 2021\, or a refund.  \nShould anyone wish to make a donation to our charities in the mean time\, please contact us and we can send you on the details for each.  \nWe\, as a community\, hope you are all healthy and well\, please keep safe during these times\, and we look forward to seeing you all at our 20th Anniversary Event on 31st July 2021. \n Breffni 3 Province Challenge will be held on August Bank Holiday Saturday.
