SUMMARY:The Warriors Run
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Strandhill\, Co. Sligo home of The Warriors Run\, one of Ireland’s toughest competitive races. \nStrandhill Village is 8 kilometres west of Sligo town\, situated on the Atlantic seaboard and nestled at the foot of Knocknarea Mountain. On its summit (1\,070 ft)\, sits a megalithic cairn where Maeve the legendary Queen of Connaught is reputedly buried. \nEach year runners from all over Ireland (and various parts of the world) converge on Strandhill to follow in the footsteps of her ancient warriors. \nThe Warriors Run takes competitors from the Cannon Gun at the beachfront in Strandhill to the top of Knocknarea\, around Queen Maeve’s Cairn and back to the beachfront again. For the uninitiated\, a 15 Kilometre race might seem easy. Not the Warriors Run!  The race is classified as a road and hill race or multi-terrained\, so whilst approximately nine of its kilometres are on paved roads\, it is the special six kilometres in the middle\, to the top of Knocknarea that gives the race its bite. These six kilometres include a 700 foot climb through fields\, loose gravel\, unsurfaced and heather paths. At its steepest incline on the way up\, even the most professional athlete slows to a walk and then brace themselves to face the equally daunting downhill run\, back down the often slippery slopes\, even in the driest of weather. \nDespite the endurance trait of the race\, each year around 1000 runners take part in this unique event to cross the finish line at the beachfront and earn the honour of being able to say that they completed The Warriors Run.

The race will begin in Belleek in Ballina town and will take participants on a fantastic route through the picturesque Belleek Woods that runs parallel to the iconic River Moy and along part of the Monasteries of the Moy Greenway. The route is ideal for runners new to the 10 mile distance and the timing of our race fits in nicely with those training for the Dublin City Marathon or other late autumn marathons.\nBallina AC has successfully hosted a range of races from 10k to 10 miles and marathons so we can guarantee participants a well-run event. The 10 Mile runners will receive a custom made medal and a custom buff whilst the 5 mile runners will just receive the medal. \nUp to 22nd June entry fees are: 10 mile race €20; 5 mile Race €15\, thereafter on race day entries are 10 mile €25 and 5 Mile €20. \nThe event will attract everyone from the country’s top athletes to the club and fun runners. There are pacers for the 10 miles at 60 mins\, 70 mins\, 80 mins and 90 mins to help participants achieve their goals.\nThere will be prizes (more details later) in the open races and and all veteran categories. All runners receive a special Finisher’s Medal and tea/coffee and sandwiches at the Riverside Park Hotel. \nThe races start and finish on the banks of the River Slaney in the historic town of Enniscorthy. The 10 Mile route runs along the river\, through the town and past the castle before heading out on tree lined roads through the pastoral County Wexford countryside in all its summer glory. DESCRIPTION:Our annual Ardagh 10 Mile Challenge takes place on a scenic\, point-to-point course during the peak of Winter. The climb lasts for about 1200m and is quite steep in parts so gauge your effort. DESCRIPTION:The Coney Island Challenge will take place again this year on Sunday 21 October. Start time will be 11am from Sligo Rugby Club\, Strandhill. \nAll who register and pay on-line (€20) will be be timed via chip and pin with an official race number and the first 300 registered will receive a special commemorative T-shirt. \nRegistration will also take place on Saturday 20th October in The Rugby Club from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and again on Sunday 21st October from 9.30am to 10.30am \nBy registering for the race you agree to abide by the highway code and act in cooperation with the organisers and marshals to ensure your safety on the day. It is recommended that any potential participant not currently involved in physical sporting activity\, should have undertaken a medical examination before taking part in the event. \nI understand that participating in this event is physically demanding\, and that I should not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. DESCRIPTION:Ox Mountain Challenge Run 2018 \n  \nThe 2nd Annual Ox Mountain Challenge is a10 mile Road Race / Mountain Run with a half way split. It is a Community Run that will take place on Saturday October 6th at 1.00 p.m.  \n  \nSkreen / Dromard Community Centre will be the base for the Run where registration\, briefing\, parking and changing facilities will be available .The Community Centre is located on the main Sligo- Ballina Road (N59) approx. 6 miles from Ballisadare. Runners can pick up their Race Tags etc on Friday 6th from 7pm – 10pm & and on the morning of the run from 10am – 12am.  Late registration will be available during both time slots. \nTo accommodate fitness of all levels a team relay of 4 X 2.5 mile race will be available along with a 4 mile run / walk .This run will be a smaller loop of the 10 mile run but will have the same start and finish. As this is a new run on the athletic Club Calendar early entry is advisable. Online registration is through Core Timing and will close one week before race day. DESCRIPTION:Born to Run Tralee Marathon Club are proud and excited to bring you the fourth annual Born to Run 40 Mile Ultra Marathon and second 2 person relay while introducing the first running of our 4 person relay. Taking place on Saturday July 28th in the town of Tralee\, this 40 Mile Ultra-marathon consists of ten 4 mile loops. \nThe course is made up of a relaxing (and flat) 1 mile river walkway (concrete) and country roads (not quiet flat in places). Each loop has two hills of approximately 0.5 miles each and have a climb of about 90 feet each. These hills are immediately followed by an equal downhill section which will be a welcome relief after the climb.

SUMMARY:Blayney Rockets 10 Mile Road Race 2018
DESCRIPTION:This 10 mile road race is on a scenic loop course a round Lough Muckno\, Castleblayney. This event is\nin its fifth year and has grown significantly since starting due to the appeal of the course and the\nquality of the overall event. It is a predominantly flat course with just a few short hills and will\nappeal to competitive runners and leisure runners. It is an accurately measured and certified course\nand is an AAI sanctioned event. A fun event for all participants and lots of prizes and surprises is the\norder of the day!\nEvent details and schedule\nThe race will start at 11am. Registration will be open on the morning of the race from 9am until\n10:30am. Registration will take place at St Marys Park\, (Castleblayney Faughs GAA grounds)\,\nCastleblayney\, on the Dublin Road out of town. Parking will be available at the grounds and at the\nneighbouring school. Further ample parking is available close by in the town centre close to the race\nstart.\nShowers and changing facilities will be available at the race finish.\nRefreshments will be served to all participants at the end of the race. There will be cash prizes and\ntrophies for the 1st three male and female finishers and trophies for the category winners for all age\ngroups. Presentation of prizes will take place at approx 1pm.\nEarly bird entry cost is €15 until midnight on 17th June. Entry costs from 18th June until close of\npre-entry at 11pm on Thursday 19th July is €20. Entries will be taken on the day of the race at a cost\nof €25\, however we cannot guarantee a race t-shirt for participants if entering on the day. Note that\nwe can only guarantee your correct t-shirt size for entries received by Wednesday 11th July.
