SUMMARY:The Wild Atlantic 10 Miler
DESCRIPTION:Ballina AC is proud to announce that our 3rd annual 10 mile road race will take place this year on Sunday\, August 18th at 11.00am. The race will begin in Belleek in Ballina town and will take participants on a fantastic route through the picturesque Belleek Woods that runs parallel to the iconic River Moy and along part of the Monasteries of the Moy Greenway. The route is ideal for runners new to the 10 mile distance and the timing of our race fits in nicely with those training for the Dublin City Marathon or other late autumn marathons.\nBallina AC has successfully hosted a range of races from 10k to 10 miles and marathons so we can guarantee participants a well-run event. Refreshments will be served after the event. \nEvent details & schedule \n• AAI approved and Jones counter measured.\n• The race is chipped and timed.\n• The race starts at 11.00am SHARP on Sunday\, August 18th\n• Starting & finishing point – Ballina Athletic Club\n• Race number\, chip and t-shirt collection – Ballina Town\nSoccer Club from 8.30 – 10.15am SHARP\n• Race briefing @ 10.45 SHARP – Ballina Athletic Club\n• Water stations on the route\n• Hot showers available\n• Every finisher will receive a bespoke medal on the day.\n• The first 200 registered will receive a technical t-shirt. \nPrizes \n1st\, 2nd and 3rd male & female\nAge group categories – Male & female O40\, 050 & O60\nFirst Ballina A.C member home \nWe would like to extend a warm welcome to all participants entering ‘the Wild Atlantic 10 Miler’ and we would like to thank you for entering our race.

SUMMARY:The Warriors Run
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Strandhill\, Co. Sligo home of The Warriors Run\, one of Ireland’s toughest competitive races. \nStrandhill Village is 8 kilometres west of Sligo town\, situated on the Atlantic seaboard and nestled at the foot of Knocknarea Mountain. On its summit (1\,070 ft)\, sits a megalithic cairn where Maeve the legendary Queen of Connaught is reputedly buried. \nEach year runners from all over Ireland (and various parts of the world) converge on Strandhill to follow in the footsteps of her ancient warriors. \nThe Warriors Run takes competitors from the Cannon Gun at the beachfront in Strandhill to the top of Knocknarea\, around Queen Maeve’s Cairn and back to the beachfront again. For the uninitiated\, a 15 Kilometre race might seem easy. Not the Warriors Run!  The race is classified as a road and hill race or multi-terrained\, so whilst approximately nine of its kilometres are on paved roads\, it is the special six kilometres in the middle\, to the top of Knocknarea that gives the race its bite. These six kilometres include a 700 foot climb through fields\, loose gravel\, unsurfaced and heather paths. At its steepest incline on the way up\, even the most professional athlete slows to a walk and then brace themselves to face the equally daunting downhill run\, back down the often slippery slopes\, even in the driest of weather. \nDespite the endurance trait of the race\, each year around 1000 runners take part in this unique event to cross the finish line at the beachfront and earn the honour of being able to say that they completed The Warriors Run.

DESCRIPTION:Ambition Run \nIn association with Tallaght Hospital & The Irish Cancer Society \nFancy a challenge? We’re looking for runners of all abilities to rise to the challenge of either a 5 or 10 mile run. \nTaking place on Saturday 31st August 2019\, 7.00pm at the T.P. Waters Ambition Run is kindly supported by SEAT with proceeds from the race going to our charity partners Tallaght University Hospital Foundation and the Irish Cancer Society. \nThe route starts at our showrooms and will take participants in and around Kildare Town and its surroundings.
