Fields of Athenry 10km\nWith government proposing to ease all restrictions by October\, we are looking forward to hosting our annual Fields of Athenry 10km road race this St. Stephens Day\, Sunday 26th December 2021\, as ever\, finishing under the famous arch in Athenry.\nFor now\, we are proceeding on the basis that the race will go ahead with little to no restrictions and are looking forward to welcoming back all our old (and new) friends who make this event a pilgrimage each year.\nThis race has always held a great social element for many entrants\, with groups of friends and family using the race as a yearly get together (and often finishing down the town with a few scoops afterwards). After the last 18 months we’ve endured\, I think this is needed more now than ever before.\nEarly bird entry of €20 is open at the link below until the end of September after which it increases to €25. Entries close on Thursday 23rd December @ 22.00pm And of course all entrants will receive our famous woolly hat!\nCan’t wait to see you all at Christmas!! DESCRIPTION:Date & Time:Sunday\, 26 December 2021 11:00 \n\n\nRace Venue/Location:Farranfore Village\, Killarney\, County Kerry \n\n\n\n\nType:Road Race\, Fun Run\, Kids Race \n\n\nDistance:5 Km\, Other \nOne of the oldest road races in Ireland takes place every St. Stephen’s day. It has been run since 1961 along the same route. Now in its 60th year\, is run from Farranfore to Firies and back to the finish in Farranfore. \nStart & Finish is at the Kerry Mill in Farranfore\, running close to the cross-roads in Firies and returning via the same route. Road closed to traffic so you can enjoy the day without having to worry about any traffic concerns. \nThe 5K Timed Race is open to all those aged 13 years and over on race day. (Race permit rules).\nDue to popular demand we have added a 2K Family Fun Run / Walk to ensure the whole family can enjoy the day. This promises to be a really exciting morning of running catering for all\, runners and families alike. \nEntry fees \n5k = 15 euro\n2k = 10 euro \nOption to purchase event t-shirt including postage during registration\, t-shirts will be posted out in batches from mid December & after event. \n
