Predator Becomes Prey in Portrunny

Maedbh Hurst took the overall victory at the fourth and final triathlon in the Run Ireland mini tri series which took place in Portrunny on Saturday the 4th of October.

I can’t think of anything my head is numb

There was a huge turnout for the Portumna triathlon which was staged at the Shannon Oaks Hotel on Saturday 27th with a total of “170” competitors taking part in the event which certainly had an international feel to it.

Race Weekend Round-up

The end of the season is upon us with just two more races on the calendar. This weekend will see the last two races – Beach Triathlon & Aqua Cycle and the Model Duathlon – both races being held in Northern Ireland.

Portumna Hosts First Triathlon

Portumna was a hive of activity last Saturday, where athletes gathered from 8am in glorious sunshine, to compete in the 25.5 Series Sprint Triathlon organised by RunIreland – 500m swim in Lough Derg, 20km cycle taking in Gortunumera, Killeen and Ballyshrule and 5km run through the forest park.

It was time for the runners to show there stuff in the Athleague Triathlon which took place on Saturday at the angling centre.

Last weekend saw triathletes travelling to Carlingford for the last standard distance National Series race where athletes raced to improve or maintain their positions in the National Series rankings.

Dublin City Triathlon Race Report

For once the weather was kind to triathletes, as this Sunday saw the running of the Dublin City Triathlon. Triathletes came from all over the country for what is one of the last big standard distance races of the year. High rainfall resulted in a fast flowing River Liffey, giving a slow out-bound upstream section of the swim, but with assistance of a fast stream on the inbound section. The swim course was shortened slightly, because of the fast flow.
