Over 10,000 participated in the 27th Evening Echo Women’s Mini Marathon on Sunday. Perfect conditions ensured everyone enjoyed themselves as well as raising millions for charity.

Kerry Harty made the five hour trip from her home in Newcastle county Down for the second year in a row. Last year she finished second to Niamh O’Sullivan, but made no mistake this time. She took over the lead before the two mile mark towards the end of Cork’s famous Marina and held her form well to win in 21:32 for a distance just under four miles. She was eight seconds clear of former winner Rosemary Ryan, with Siobhan O’Doherty third in 22:01. Last year’s winning time was 21:52 ahead of Harty’s 22:11.
