Neil O’Brien
Nutrition and Food Science Expert

Neil O’Brien completed a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from Trinity College. He successfully completed Postgraduate in Nutrition and Food Science from Queens, Belfast as well as a Postgrad in Medical Toxicology from the University of Medicine, Wales.
He has ten years clinical experience. He has completed a course in Exercise Physiology and Fitness Evaluation from Trinity. He is a qualified Sports Massage Therapist from the Institute of Physical Therapy and also holds a Graduate Diploma in Business and I.T. from Dublin Business School and is currently studying for a Diploma in Sports Psychology. He is currently Triathlon Ireland’s Anti-Doing Officer.
Neil is a lecturer on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in U.C.D. and Kevin St. D.I.T. as well as giving talks at various G.P. conferences and is involved in community based health promotion projects providing seminars on health and healthy eating, fitness as well as various other topics. He is Nutritionist to Irish Ice Hockey Team and numerous clubs. He gives seminars at elite training camps abroad (Club La Santa, Lanzarote and Cyprus) as well as numerous seminars in Ireland.
He has a background in boxing, winning 3 British & Irish Intervarsity titles at Heavyweight. He is currently focused on triathlon, specialising in Ironman distance with a P.B. of 10’36”. He is Irelands only finisher of the worlds toughest Ironman, the Norseman triathlon and is currently training for Embrunman.
He nutritionally coaches athletes in various sports including triathlon, Ironman, running, swimming, cycling, rugby, ice hockey, boxing, gaelic football, hurling, soccer, martial arts, rowing and golf.
By using his ten years of clinical experience he provides bespoke nutritional strategies for athletes to ensure optimal training and recovery in tandem with health promotion by utilising the latest evidence based information available.
