David Gillick Smashes 400m Record

David Gillick (Dundrum South Dublin AC) produced a truly magnificent display of one lap running when he destroyed the field at the Meeting de Madrid, which is part of the IAAF World Athletics Tour 2009, tonight. His win was never in any doubt, but his time of 44.77 sliced a significant amount off his Irish record of 45.12.
Breaking the 45 second barrier is a significant milestone in Gillick’s career. This performance also moves the Dublin man to fourth in the World Rankings and number one European. This all augers well for the World Championships in Berlin in August.
