The event incorporates the British trial for the Olympic Games on May 21st. Kevin Mulcaire (Ennis Track) is also in the race and he will be eyeing Frank Greally’s 46-year-old national junior record of 30:17.

There will be an Irish squad at the Loughborough international (May 22) including David Gillick (DSD) and women’s 4x400m relay team comprising of Christine McMahon (Ballymena and Antrim), Jessie Barr (Ferrybank), Jenna Bromell (Emerald), Sinead Denny (DSD) and Ciara McCallion (Clonliffe Hariers). The Healy sisters, Phil and Joan (Bandon), will also be competing.

Ciaran O Lionaird (Leevale) is due to run the 1500m at the HOKA ONE ONE Middle Distance Classic in Los Angeles on May 20. Michelle Finn (Leevale) continues her Olympic preparations with a 3,000m steeplechase in Hamburg

The GloHealth Connacht (19th) and Munster (21st) Schools Championships take place this week along with the Ulster Championships (20th/21st). The next Diamond League meeting also takes place this weekend in Rabat, Morocco.
