Hickey and Doody win in Limerick

Martin Doody and Ciara Hickey led home thousands of runners at the Barrington’s Hospital Great Limerick Run today. Martin Doody (Limerick AC) was the fastest in the men’s marathon, running 2:28:33, while the women’s title went to Ciara Hickey (Bros Pearse) in 2:47:03.

Philip Harty won the men’s half marathon in 1:09:46, with the women’s title going to Sarah Mulligan (DSD) in 1:17:42. Peter Somba (29:33) and Siobhán O’Doherty (Borrisokane) (34:17) took victories in the six-mile race. Sergiu Ciobanu (Clonliffe Harriers) was second in 29:37 in the six mile race.

At the Irish Milers Club meeting in Greystones yesterday, Clonmel brothers William and Kevin Maunsell impressed over 5000m, with William leading the field home in 14:17.35 ahead of Kevin (14:20.49) and Kilkenny’s Brian Maher (14:20.85).

Carla Sweeney (WSAF) 2:09.14 ran a world junior B qualifying time (2:09.20), Rose Finnegan (Bohermeen) 2:09.54. 

In Clermont, Florida on Saturday night, Adam McMullen (Crusaders) opened his season with a 7.75m long jump, while Amy Foster (City of Lisburn) took victory over 100m in 11.54.
