Anyone got any advance for someone getting panic attacks at the thought of doing the ultra ! ! ! !
Will the shuttle buses still be running on Monday?
Last year I ran the ultra for the first time, and the night before the race I did not sleep a wink, constantly worrying about what the hell I was doing there.
I had a great time. So much so that I'm doing it again this year.
Don't worry. We're all nervous before the race, but once you're off you just get on with it,
Agree with what has been said above, Also, don't underestimate the effect of the marathoners and halfers. They will really encourage anyone with a "39XXX) race bib on!
Last year, I had a bit of a wibble in Leanane, It was my fathers favourite place in the world and I was there on the anniversary of his death, I'd already run a marathon and had another half to go, I was tired, thirsty had missed the aid stations and still had "that" hill to go but the other people around, the walkers etc that the front end of the pack don't normally see, really spurred me on.

One foot in front of the other, twice and repeat the movement until you cross the line.
You can take comfort in the fact that there's at least one fat(ish) bloke behind you, feeling worse than you are. :)
