Visiting Yank requesting logistical help in getting to Grey Lake 10K Road Race
I'm hoping that someone will be gracious enough to help me determine how to get to the Grey Lake 10K Road Race. I will be on our sightseeing tour from the US and very much would like to take part in the 10k.
The morning of the 26th, we will be viewing the Cliffs of Moher, then traveling through Burren County and around Galway Bay. I'm more than willing to bypass some of the sights in order to race.
I'll gladly take any public transportation needed, but would appreciate some help in stream-lining my travels. I will most likely break away from the group at the Cliffs of Moher.
Any help in selecting the best way will be greatly appreciated!
Best regards,
Christopher Guiry
We will be in Bunratty for the day, staying at the Bunratty Castle.
My wife is from Gort which is not too far away from the area. Apparently you would need to travel to Galway and then back to Loughrea, and retrace your steps to get back to Bunratty. Bit of a trek. If there is anyone in Limerick, Clare, South Galway (say the Gort area) travelling to this race, they might be able to offer a lift. You might try on boards.ie, another website with a section for runners and discussion and get someone to give you a lift. Ideally, you would go from Bunratty to Gort and turn off for Loughrea.
I would also go on to the website and ask if there was anyone they knew making the journey or coming from Gort where you could get a bus to abd get returned to, that town at least is on a direct route to Bunratty
